Anyone ever used Allegiant air??

popcorn:: I've been thinking of taking Allegiant out of Duluth. I'm glad someone started this tread. Do they have hotel shuttle buses from that air port, like they do for Orlando Int? Is that airport anywhere near Orlando airport?

We live about 50 miles north of Evansville. I checked Southwest and for the days we want (sunday/sunday) it was $1396. Allegiant Air is just $470 if we book our tickets at the airport and don't choose our own seats. I realize we will have checked bags, but hoping for just 2. The cheapest we could find Southwest for was $830 and that was traveling outside what we wanted (tues/tues). :)

Then I'd give it a try! With that price difference I would at least try it once!

And I grew up in Evansville, so hello from a fellow Hoosier :goodvibes

No they do not have a shuttle... I think my TA said it's about 45 minutes give or take to WDW... not certain but min of 30 min and not more than 60 minutes away. This is why I would maybe look into a Car Service that picks you up and back for round trip... plus, you could stop by a grocery store for needed items too! We're 2 hours from Duluth and will seriously look into this when we go!

I hate Allegiant, but that's just me. Some people just want a cheap flight that will get you from A to B. Allegiant is for those folks.

Everyone is right ... the fare you see listed is about half of what you wind up paying with all the fees added in. You can only buy their fares at certain airports, so make sure yours is one of them (mine wasn't one) or you'll end up paying a $15 "convenience fee" per ticket for buying online.

If you buy seats, make sure you are in line and ready to go when called or your seats will be taken by those who are allowed general boarding. We paid for our seats, and boarded following the priority boarding folks. We got our seats no problem. However, very soon after that they allowed general boarding. A mother and daughter took the seats immediately in front of us, and just 5 minutes later the people who had paid for those seats wanted the mother and daughter to move. I didn't enjoy watching the stand-off.

We had brought on our own bottled water. I actually turned to my husband and asked, "What are we, on friggin QVC?!" after the flight attendant came on and cheerfully shilled "We still have 45 minutes left in the flight! If you'd like to buy one of our cold sodas, press the call button above your seat!" That was probably the 3rd time they announced that as well as selling other items.

At the end of the flight, they asked all passengers to prepare the seatbelts for the next flight (connect the seatbelt and criss cross it on the seat as you leave your seat). I told them I would do it for a $15 convenience fee. ;)

Watch your flights as well. They are notorious for changing their schedules and cancelling flights.

I am laughing out loud after reading that. You made my morning. Thanks!

For us, the ATW Appleton Wisconsin airport offers a direct flight to Orlando Stanford SFB via Allegiant.

So it’s a 5 minute drive to our local airport for tickets that cost hundreds less or a 2 hour drive to Milwaukee, park a long way away, all the people you get at a big airport or take non-direct flights out of Appleton for a crazy high cost.

We are flying via Allegiant.

I did go to the airport to purchase the tickets to save the $15 convenience fee x 5 tickers so a $75 savings for a 5 minute drive. No seat assignments, no extra anything.

Shoot, it’s only a 2 ½ hour flight and we are there.

For us it is a direct flight also. When we fly USAir we have a layover in Charlotte. When we fly Delta we have a layover in Atlanta. This will be my husband's first time flying someone other than Allegiant. We are flying Delta down and Allegaint back. With Delta he will find out how much fun it is to land, find your next flight, wait and wait in the terminal if there are delays. (sarcasm)
He will also find out how much smaller the seats and plane are. Just my two cents but I wish Allegiant flew more than 3-5 days a week. I would fly with them all the time if I could. And yes, you do have to check their seat prices DAILY to get a deal. Sometimes they go down but sometimes they go UP too. :surfweb:

We have flown Allegiant the last 4 years to Orlando and have yet to have a problem. We are using them in May to fly again and the cost for our family of 5 to fly round trip was $819, which included all fees and 3 checked bags. If you call to order your tickets, you can talk them into waving the booking fee. For us it is also a no brainer because they fly out of our local small airport only 20 minutes away and into a small airport. That is a lot better for our family since we have 2 small girls.
