Have any of you ever used Southwest Airline's group program? Apparently, if you have more then 10 people in your party, you can get a discount on your tickets. There's no way to access these discounts online so I called and the wait is "between 32 and 51 minutes". :-O So I hung up... don't need the tix yet, just want an idea on the discount.

I'm going to check into it for our Oct trip.

From what I've HEARD (havent done it yet) usually you may get some discount, but it's not as low as the lowest fares offered. What it does is allows easy changes in passenger names that are flying and only requires a deposit to start the process and full payment closer to your departure date, allowing you to keep some of your money for a while.

So if you are looking for an easy way to keep everything on one reservation and able to swap people in or out (like a school / church / scout troup) it makes great sense. For the cheapest fares, probably not. Again, this is just from talking to a few people, and I cant be sure on how the rates are figured.

We did this about 5 yars ago. There were 15 of us in the group. We paid a deposit and we were even given assigned seasts. Payment had to be made with 1 credit card and final payment had to be made 45 days from departure with either a credit card or cashier's check. It wasn't the cheapest fare, but being able to make payments worked out for some of our travel party.
