I have a couple of things I'd like to bid on off of Ebay. I thought about trying Paypal. I was wondering if anyone here has used that and what I need to know. Do they keep your credit card info on file? Or do you enter it in with each transaction. Not sure I would like the idea of someone having that info on hand. I read through the info page, but sure would love to hear from someone who has actually used it...Good/Bad otherwise!!:D

Thanks!!:D

Hi Wendy
You register with them just as with ebay..you can give your checking account # and make all your purchases thru what they call instant transfer..or you can put your credit card # on file and pay that way..they also have what they call e check..never used it..but believe they charge you $1.50 to do so..I use it both as a buyer and a seller..and (crossing fingers) have never had a problem with it..please pm me or email me if you have any other questions about it I might be able to answer!

I've used paypal for various things for the past 5 years or so. I've never had a problem...never been charged for things I haven't bought.

Its the only way I'll buy things on Ebay. I've used both my checking account and my credit card. No problems at all for me. :D

It's the only way I will buy (or accept payment for things I sell) on eBAY. Period.

Never had a bad experience in the past 3-4 years(?)

We have used Paypal (For E bay) for the past three years w/ great success! I recommend it.

I've been buying and selling on Ebay for several years. I use Paypal. I've heard a couple of people complain, but I've always been satisfied with the service and continue to use it. Just paid for 2 auctions this weekend.

I use it for eBay all the time too. No problems with it so far.

On the other hand, it was used for our Dis Con 2 registration fees too. And when the con was cancelled and we were to get our money back, we were told that Pay Pal had put a hold on the money. But that could have just been something we were told to keep us quiet............

Can you purchase vouchers from Connections with Paypal?

I'm another many year user of PayPal and I've never had problems.

I have used it for purchases on ebay many times. It is very convenient!

I have used PayPal for E-Bay a number of times. My DH has ordered various different products from other sites using PayPal (the ones that accept it) and we've never had a problem. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to try it.

Use Paypal -- Oh yes.....
They even have a very nice campus here in town. ;)
The one thing I learned the hard way -- Don't Ever have the funds transferred directly from your checking account.
If you get stuck in a sale, as I was, you have no recourse -- except to file a police report. And then don't count on ever seeing your funds again.
My bank told me if I had used my VISA debit card, they could have helped.
The seller won't be charged a Paypal fee if you have the funds removed from your account.
Paypal has since started offering a satisfaction guarantee fee option. But I have not used that. I just use my debit card. So far I have not had to have any charges removed. And I have been Paypaling for two year and a half years.
And Never respond to an e-mail from Ebay or Paypal asking for your passwords. They won't ask in that manner and don't want you to respond. It's not them.
With Paypal you really are better off not having your direct checking account info listed.
Pin people become funds/Paypal/mail experts in no time. ;)

My bank told me if I had used my VISA debit card, they could have helped.

I use PayPal for eBay purchases, and only use my VISA card with PayPal. They keep after me to register with my checking account, but you have less protection going that way. On eBay, if the seller only wants checks or money orders, I do not bid.

Our son sells on ebay and he will only accept payment from paypal if it comes directly from someones checking, or a balance they carry in their paypal account. If you opt to take Visa/MC for payments, you as the seller are charged a fee to have this option, so much per transaction and it can add up if you aren't really running your auctions as a business, but just trying to unload things you don't need anymore. A lot of buyers don't understand why some people only accept direct cash withdrawal payments and even if an auction specifically states only cash withdrawal thru paypal, will still try and pay with a credit card and then payment has to be denied. Even a bank debit card is considered a charge card transaction thru paypal and the seller will be charged a fee.

Also, Ebay now owns/runs Paypal.

My understanding the cash/investment part is run out of CA.
A large office is here in Omaha. But that is mostly what I would call non-financial/customer service.
Paypal charges fees for those who receive money, other than payments made from a checking account.
I avoid sellers who only want money from an existing account or funds direct from a checking. If I have to, I get a money order. My bank doesn't charge for those and if I would ever have to stop pay on one, it would be simple (as opposed to a postal m.o.).
I don't even mind paying a seller's Paypal fees. Been burned once; that makes me twice shy.
And I understand why a seller requests that. Once you pay Ebay fees and Paypal fees, sometimes you are lucky to break even. On a pin sale alone thatcan easily add another $2.
When I first started using Paypal/buying pins, I transferred funds from my checking into my Paypal balance, to keep myself on a budget.
What I didn't like was they deducted the funds from my checking the next morning. It took a full week before they credited my Paypal account with those funds. They say to give them x amount of days. They went beyond that time frame.
That's partly where they make money. Investing between the cash flows.
