Anyone ever use Gripe Water for their babies?

We have used Baby Bliss Gripe Water. I think it may have helped a little bit.. I'm not too sure.
I've also used coccyntal drops. Again, I think they helped a little.
My dd's GERD has gotten much better as she's gotten a little older.
I hope your little one feels better soon!

I appreciate your response. Our dd had colic, when none of the others did. Now, she's nearly 3 and still fights the bloating and gas. She rarely makes an entire night thru. Our ped, as I said, just gives us the "shell grow out of it." She vomits when she cries, and you can just hear her little tummy. Again, "an attention getter.."hmmm.. So, like I said, I have the eroded esophagus, and the pre cancerous condition, barrett's esophagus. Im only 34 and my dr said my esophagus looked like that of a 60 yr old. And, it IS a genetic predisposition..And STILL, the ped says, "aww..fergit about it.." BTW, I had no idea I had any reflux at all. I went in for stomach pain, because I thought I had an ulcer. Thats when they saw the esophagus. My stomach's acid had been eating away at it, as well as the other end of the stomach, the duodenum. The comment was that there was way too much acid in my stomach. Had no idea.
So, thanks again for the reply, we'll be looking to get that 2nd opinion.

Please take her. My DGD's first pediatrician said the same thing. She was seven months old, crying and refusing to eat. You could count her little ribs. She had circles under her eyes. She would take one bite of food and then cover her mouth. She would choke all of the time. My DD made an appointment with a specialist at Children's hospital and the Dr canceled it. DD fired the Dr and took her to another dr who started her on baby Zantac.
He referred her to a pediatric gastroenterologist who was appalled at her treatment....or lack thereof. Thank God for her DR. Her Dr did an endoscopy on her and found that she was irritated from her esophagus down to her rectum. Her throat was very swollen. She has not outgrown the reflux, in fact at six she is taking the maximum dose. She was also given Reglen for a short period of time but the side effects on her were not worth the benefit.

Good luck with your little one.

No problem and sounds good to get that second opinion. Somtimes you just hit a roadblock with some docs. I dont know what we would do if we didnt have the meds for our DD right now. We tried taking her off at one point (at the suggestion of the GI- to get her on one only) and it was a nightmare. She is definately much better with the meds. If we could only get past the sleeping problem that the reflux is giving her we would be great. Good luck to you and I hope you can get a Dr. who will listen. I dont think you will have a problem if you get her to a Ped. GI. Im sorry you are in such bad shape with yours. That is why I wanted my baby on meds so hopefully hers wont get to the point yours is at or at least so early in her life.

The Baby Bliss gripe water is what my sample is of. At least I dont have the knock off one. I also read somewhere that you had to refridgerate gripe water after opening it. I read this after having used it the first night and left it sitting out. After doing some checking I found that with this brand it does not have to be kept in the fridge- thank goodness. I thought I was going to have to throw it out when I first read that somewhere.

Time for a new Pediatrician!

DS had some colic issues so I had to watch what I ate as he was mostly BF and we switches his supplemental formula to Nutramigen and then to Alimentum (which he still takes). This and being put on Zantac helped solve the problems he was having.

Good luck to you! :grouphug:

Gripe Water helped save my sanity! :worship: My daughter had all kinds of trouble with colic, etc. and nothing was working. We finally found Gripe Water and I've been singing it's praises ever since! I'd highly recommend giving it a try. I just added it to her bottles and it worked like a charm! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies- I really think this stuff is working for my DD. :thumbsup2 She has slept so much better in the past few nights since I have been giving it to her. :dance3: She didnt even cry out once in the past 2 nights!! :cool1: Unbelieveable!! I think I will go out and buy a case of it since I used my last dose from the sample bottle last night. I am looking forward to getting a good nights sleep from now on!!

Gripe water has worked wonders for us. Our oldest DS was colicky and we didn't know about Gripe water so we just pushed through. With our youngest DS we switched from regular Enfamil to Gentlease to ProSobee (Soy). He seemed to do better but still could tell his tummy was hurting him. This time around I refused to believe there wasn't anything we could do besides wait for him to outgrow colic. The gas drops (Mylicon) never seemed to work for us. That's when we discovered Gripe Water. Our youngest DS loved the taste (it has a sweet taste) and it settled his tummy right away. We were amazed! A couple weeks later our DS started sleeping through the night. He's a much happier baby now.

Gripe water is wonderful and totally safe. My grandmother swore by it but it couldn't be found here again easily until recently.

My dd had a totally volitle tummy, I can't say that the gripe water made that much of a difference.

My son has the absloute worse colic when he was a baby. He had for about 3 months. He would start in the early evening around 7pm and cry non stop until around midnight. That's alot of crying. My husband and I were at out wits end until we discovered gripe water. The best is called Baby Bliss Grip Water and that stuff is amazing and works great on hiccups as well. My son would get the hiccups every night around 2 am and it would last sometimes up to an hour. A couple of drops of gripe water and hiccups were gone! I read about the gripe water in a parenting magazine and I asked my son's dr about it and he said it wouldn't hurt. The Baby Bliss brand is all natural, no additives, no preservatives and is tasteless, well to me anyway. And I taste everything before I give it to my son.

What helped my son as well is changing his formula. His dr was very hesitant to put him on meds so we did dietary changes instead. We changed him from a milk-based formula to a formula that was for babies that are allergic to milk based products. That formula smelled so bad, but it was what finally worked on my son. Now he is 2 years old and he eats and rinks milk products with no problems.

I know extactly how you feel. It is very frustrating to have a baby who is crying all the time and you can't do anything about it. I hope things get better for you and you baby.
