Anyone ever trade out and go to the mountains?

My DH really wants to take a trip to the mountains. Has anyone ever used their DVC points through RCI and gone to the North Georgia/SC Mountains? I looked at the options, but couldn't tell what we would really like. I don't want a private/free standing house. I am more interested in an inclusive resort, like a hotel, where we have a balcony and nice view of the mountains, but they have restaurants in the lobby we can walk to for meals. (Sort of like Wilderness Lodge). Any advice for using DVC for this? Thanks!

Honestly, the best advice I could give you would be to rent your DVC points, then use the cash proceeds to book what you want. That way you aren't limited to the RCI offerings. Good luck!

We have traded out to go with the Concierge Colletion location of Asheville, NC. You are in the Smokie Mountains very nice area, you are on the southeast edge of the mountains.

I've traded out a number of times to the Gatlinburg area as well as owning with Bluegreen which has 2 resorts in the area. I'd agree the value isn't there but if you decide to proceed, I think all the resorts on the TN side are fine except Gatlinburg Town Square. The Holiday Inn may be the nicest but it's in town. We really like Mountainloft II.

ETA: My trades were not using DVC but other timeshares and through both II and RCI.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is in the Rockies and very pretty. I don't know about DVC trade out but there can be some good values if you know where to look. Perhaps a different set of mountains?

We use our DVC to go to the mountains all the time, space mountain, splash mountain and big thunder mountain. Sorry I could not resist. Good luck in going to the mountains you enjoy.

We have not used our points but we visit Blue Ridge, GA at least once a year and always rent a cabin through www.escapetoblueridge.com. The cabins are gorgeous! Service is excellent.
