I know everyone is sick of hearing about us wanting to relocate to a warmer climate...but job situation is going nowhere and cost of living is catching up. We are in the chicago land area.We have family in SW FL :D and housing is half of what we pay. We could make a nice profit on our current home...enough to pay rent while job searching for 1.5 years or so. I would hate to think it would take that long to find a career job for us both, but the way things are going we would take whatever we could find. Too risky? We thought about renting out our current home, but have heard nothing but horror stories..plus that puts our $ to live on at risk if the renter were to default. I guess we're grasping at strws here...just need some clear headed advice.

i think airforcerocks rents her house. you might want to pm her. :)

Thanks caitcaity...some people have looked at us like we're nuts, and others have said go for it....if DH ends up w/a career change(might be by our own choice) I guess it might as well be in an area that is more affordable for us to live...even tho it's REALLY scary to not have a safety net!

We relocated 4 1/2 yrs ago, from Upstate NY to GA and it was the smartest thing we've ever done. DH would probably not have a job had we not moved and area we lived in is very "depressed", housing market is flooded with people trying to leave the area after loosing their jobs. If you want to move to a warmer climate and you have no job keeping you where you are, I say go for it! :) Good luck whatever you decide. Feel free to PM me ;)
