My DH and I are thinking about purchasing the Total Gym 1700 Club. We're both feeling old and decrepit lately and decided we need to do something about it. Anyone have any experience with this equipment? I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.

I have not, but a co-worker of mine has & he loves it.

If I'm not mistaken, it was also reviewed by Consumer Reports last years as one of, if not the best "home gym" you could buy.

I bought one about 5 years ago at BJ's for $169. I used it the first 3 months regularly - it helped with the exercises my physical therapist gave me to strengthen my shoulder. I thought it was "too" easy so I raised the level, and wrecked both my shoulder and my back. It has been collecting dust in my basement ever since. Although it does help with drying clothes on laundry day.

Just be careful!

Yes, CR did give it a good rating.

I'm not allowed to buy exercise equipment any more -- they all end up as clothes hangers! :( Infomercials really sway me! Allthough all the ab machines look stupid.

We have a Total Gym but tend to use our Weider home gym more.

We have one and it is in the laundry room collecting dust as we speak. We used it for a couple of months and then put it there and that is where it stayed:mad:
