Anyone ever left a career to work at Disney?

Just curious.... I am a 46 year old professional small business owner that lives 3 tstaes away. I am absolutely infatuated with Disney World and would love to work there. My wife thinks i am crazy but i think about this all of the time. I know I would probably take a huge paycut but when the last child is in college it may work out. Anyone on the DISBoards ever done this ? Besides the income change in most cases, how did it turn out? what are the pros and cons? is it just a magical working there as opposed to vacationing there ? Thank you !

I was just talking to a coworker who's son works there doing designing setups for stores at the world. She says to him the magic wore off and now it's "just a job."

I would love to work there but I make quite a bit as a specialized nurse so it'd be a HUGE pay cut and not sure if I would be able to cut it. I've looked up homes in the area and too expensive for me lol. I say go for it if you truly want. What's the worst? You tried and it didn't work? No big deal.

I did the CP twice. I loved working there. Granted, I was much younger, and the pay wasn't much. It was fun. I'm an attorney now as is my DH. Our retirement plan is to sell everything and move to FL and work at Disney. We plan to do this when the youngest goes to college. She is now 16 months so we have some time.

If Disney paid CMs more, I probably wouldn't have left. I often troll the Disney career site hoping I will see something I can do from here. No such luck

We have plans like Crystal824, but to move when our son is starting high school (3.5 years from now). I'm a litigation clerk working for the government, but have no issues leaving that behind. DH owns a website, so he will bring that with him.
