Anyone ever hire a professional window cleaner? What to expect?

Hi as some of you may recall we are preparing our home for sale. From everything I've read both on here and in "readying you house for sale" books they all say to give the windows a good, thorough cleaning.

I was thinking of hiring a professional window cleaner. DH was power washing the house today and he took the screens out and I guess I've just gotten used to all the grime and gunk.

What will a professinal do? Maybe I'm thinking they'll do more than they actually do? And maybe I should just undertake myself? I've never washed the windows since living here.

I think it's worth it if you can't easily reach the windows.

My dh did our windows in the back. Although they're on the first floor, we're on a hill so they were 2nd story windows he washed while on a ladder. He made a royal, streaky mess! He's normally a great window washer, but this was very bad.

I hired someone who came and did those windows. He was better equiped with long handled, non streaking stuff and easily did what dh botched. We did the inside and the easily reachable ones ourselves.

The don't do the windowsills, at least the ones that I've hired. So make sure you wash the windowsills first or you'll mess up the clean windows.

My BIL owns a window cleaning business and let me tell you what a difference. My windows were beautiful. Be careful that you get someone that does just windows. My friend got a cleaning company and they showed up w/ no ladder and windex and paper towels. They were terrible. The professional ones will have the right equipment.
