Anyone ever have a POSITIVE experience with CAA insurance?

We've had CAA home/auto ins for years and I always get right through to an actual human being who politely answers all of my questions when I call. My husband was in an accident 2 yrs ago which totalled our car and their claims dept was polite, thorough and fair. Nothing but positive experiences here - which I hope continues. Sorry you're having problems and I hope you can resolve them quickly. :wizard:

is insurance a private or government operated in ontario? It's totally private in alberta and i think that may be the reason i'm having such problems.

We've only ever used CAA for travel insurance. I have to say we had a terrible time getting reimbused for medical expenses incurred while on vacation. Of course, we buy travel insurance for each and every trip, and this is the only time we've ever needed it, and it was a mess! It was all straightened out eventually, but we've never been tempted to go back to them. We now use CIBC for our travel insurance (annual policy), but since we've never needed to make a claim, I can't tell you how good they are, either. They're all fabulous when all they're doing is pulling money in hand over fist. The real test is when they need to pay it out!

We did have fairly good luck with AMA (CAA) here in Alberta. When we were planning our second trip to Disney, we went to one of the travel agents there to see what kind of a deal we could get on planning a Disney Vacation. Well we were very pleased when they gave us a really cheap rate at that time on the Disney tickets. We were quite happy with their travel service. But since then we haven't really needed AMA so we haven't kept up the membership. Before that we also moved and drove from NS to Alberta and they were more than willing to plan the entire route, gave us tons of info on every province and we made it in one piece.

Positive experience with a home insurance claim. Got looked after immediately.

Someone backed into my car a month ago. I was able to speak to a claims person very quickly when I went into the office. However, I was given many different answers when I asked if making a hit & run claim would affect my insurance premiums. I was transfered like 20 times from department to department only to find out that if i went through insurance, to one of their "pre-approved" body shops I would get a generic bumper cover, not a moulded cover like the one that's on there now. I've already arranged to switch insurance companies after my bumper is fixed.

I always get travel insurance from CAA. However, we drive to Seattle on Friday. My sons are driving with us, they will be in the States for about 15 hrs and then they fly to Central America to backpack for about 2 1/2 months. CAA told them that they would have to get insurance for CA and USA for the whole time they are gone! I thought that they could just get one day of US insurance. Needless to say, they are going to try somewhere else.
