ok i got my phoenix macro back( no charge whoo hoo) but funny thing is it has a back piece of glass on it where there wasn't one before.in other words, yu could have stuck your finger inside the lens if you wanted to. (i also can't see the thing that looked like a piece of 35mm film( if anyone remembers what that looked like;)) that draped across the opening which i'm thinking is a good thing)
. however i can't test it since i don't have a camera presently:sad2:. but wondering if anyone has ever had a lens that did not have glass at the back...wondering if that was why it never really focused correctly before in macro or if that was just a fluke...

I've been following your posts for a while. You just seem to have the worst luck with your lenses.

I haven't heard of something like that, but I hope you get it all figured out.

:lmao: i'm starting to wonder if they seem me coming and get out the freak lenses :lmao:

A couple of my lenses do not have a rear element at the back of the lens- it's recessed down inside a ways. The 180/2.8 and 300/4 are both like that- no big deal.

Are you saying they put a piece of plastic over yours?

no it looks like glass in the back now( set in maybe 3/4 of an inch). before i could have touched the back of the front element( or maybe there were 2 in the front if so the most inside one) from the backside of the lens, ie poked my finger thru the whole lens back to front cause it was open til you got to the front glass..thinking maybe that was not the way it should have been:rolleyes:
when i first saw it was open i kind of thought "huh that seems different" but being a somewhat dim bulb just figured that was the way the lens was made ie cheap lens. then since i have been reading how you shouldn't try to fix your own lens due to dirt etc added to the fact i couldn't focus it in macro except at the nearest focusing distance for macro( it's a macro lens), i'm starting to think maybe it was messed up the whole time.
hopefully i'll get a camera back soon and i can check it. more in my series of bad timing, i sent my camera in to adorama, it got there at 10am last friday just in time for them to close for the long memorial day weekend ( friday lunchtime-monday) then they closed again for a Jewish holiday this thursday lunchtime till sunday. so if there aren't any holidays this coming week maybe they will be open long enough for me to actually find out what is going on with my camera.
