Anyone ever had invasalign braces?

I'm about to have this done. I go in next week for the impressions and x-rays.

I'd love to hear feedback from anyone who has had them. Are you glad you went with them versus regular braces. Any con's, etc? I'm excited not to have a mouth full of metal.

I had conventional braces on from Jan 2004 to Nov 2005. My Ortho recommended against Invisalign for me too. However, my retainer is exactly like an Invisalign molding. I have to wear it 7/24 for the first three months and then only at night. I have to say that of the two types of things in my mouth, I'd pick the conventional braces. Having to pop the retainer out anytime I want to eat anything, having to brush them like dentures to keep all of the "crude" out of them, the threat of lossing them when I eat out, would make having to wear Invisalign for two years straight a pain to me.

Invisalign was NOT an option for my daughter. The ortho told her that she needed more "work" than the invisalign could do.

Depending on where you live and the ortho you go to, some will actually put the braces on the inside or inner teeth (meaning the backside) so that they do not show. This is a common practice for folks in the entertainment industry. Might be worth checking into.

I had traditionals back in jr high... and then a similar thing (called red-white-blue) and now my retainers. I actually enjoyed it because if there was something I really wanted to eat, I could pop them out and no problem.

My mom had invisaline right before my wedding. Her teeth were pretty bad and now look great! She said that the glue dots were the worst part. Unlike a retainer that slides on and off, the reason invisaline works is because the "retainer" snaps onto the teeth and over the dots. It guides them as you make those little movements in the right direction. The first couple of days with a new one will hurt, but tylenol helps... take it a few hours before you switch.

My boyfriend has them and really likes them. I not sure if the course is standard, but he's doing a series of 12. He's about halfway through and is noticing a change. He says that his teeth are mildly sore for about the first week of each new set but settle out for week 2 and 3.

From the cosmetic point of view, I can report they are great. Really difficult to tell if his are in or not unless I look really closely.
