Anyone ever had anything stolen out of their stroller?

Just curious....I like to think all people are good and decent, but there are a few bad apples out there. Anyone ever have an experience of somebody stealing something from their stroller while it was parked, or even somebody just taking off with your stroller? We plan on bringing our double stroller along, and will probably just have a small cooler, back-back with baby/toddler essentials etc. All the important stuff will be on us (cash, CC's, phones, etc.).

Never. We have left valuable items in our stroller too (I'm NOT recommending this), and it has never been touched. I once dropped a camera, and it was returned to a CM immediately. I have read on the DIS boards that strollers never/rarely get stolen. We have never had an issue with anyone tampering with our stroller, and we have a Maclaren.

Yes - believe it or not, we had our stroller fan batteries stolen when we were eating breakfast. We came out and tried to use the fan, and when we opened the case (which we had to use a SCREWDRIVER to do) we found that the batteries were gone. We had used the fan that morning, so it wasn't like they were just never there. We were DUMBFOUNDED that someone would be that bold.

Yes, twice. Neither time did it ultimately harm us (a kind CM heard DS talk about his hat being stolen, and replaced it, and the other time the item had literally no value at all as it was a free balloon a CM had given DS...and no it didn't float away or get popped by a bird or whatever) but the feeling of being stolen from really sucked.

After that we left absolutely nothing with the stroller. And then DS was done with the stroller and we were happy.

We never had anything stolen....even when the boys were little and we had diaper bags, nothing was touched. We even lost a video camera one year that we left under a park bench - that was turned into lost and found by that evening! I had the birth of my oldest son on the camera too - lots of crying when it was returned!

I think just use your best judgement on what you leave in it and where....

We haven't but there must be at least a thread every other month or so about someone's stroller being stolen or valuables being stolen out of the stroller.

We only leave water in the stroller. I wouldn't leave any type of bag; even if it only has dirty clothes, the dumb thief doesn't know that. There are people who go to DL just to steal stuff, never forget that.

That's my impression too. Many people haven't had problems, but conversely, there's at least one sad story every couple of months where someone loses something significantly valuable or with sentimental value.

We've taken 3 trips with our stroller and never had anything taken. But, I kind of always ready myself for it, because it seems like a possibility.

Worst thing that has happened here is the CM move them...BAH HA HA!! Walk out and scratch head..I swear this is where I left it and for that moment my heart skips a beat thinking someone stole it!

Yes - My daughter's sweatshirt was stolen out of our stroller by some guy...and when I saw him sitting on a bench with it about 20 feet away, I walked up and said, "Hey, what are you doing with my daughter's sweatshirt?"...he naturally pretended not to understand English. I just grabbed the sweatshirt and walked off.

Another time, we had a clip-on watch stolen off of our stroller (just some cheapie thing, but it helped us keep track of the time without having to wear a watch...back when cell phones didn't display the time).

You know...it would be one thing if people stole *food* or something they actually really couldn't live without...but when people just steal to be greedy, it's entirely pathetic. If they can afford Disney, they can afford their own sweatshirts and watches.

Umm, this isn't the case at all. Many families save up for years for tickets and a motel room. Sweatshirts and watches aren't even a thought for them. Maybe an ice cream bar, if they are lucky. Others win tickets, and many are big Disney fans, but some just called at the right time and didn't even know the prize, know what I mean? And since they didn't work or save to get there, and they aren't fans, they don't appreciate the magic and if they see something they want they will take it. It isn't the norm, but it is reality.

We never had anything stolen when I went when I was a kid (always had a stoller and junk with us, but then that was back in the early 80's...world seemed like a better place back then), but we also didn't have anything stolen when we went last year with our kids. We left the diaper bag and food and such in it, covered with a blanket when we would leave. Didn't have any problems. We DID have a CM move it once over by Pirates and we had a similar "heart skips a beat" reaction! LOL We found it real quick after that though. :)

Yes in 2004 we had all our souvies stolen from the basket in our stroller (lesson learned lol) while in ToonTown. We immediately told a cast member and they replaced everything that had been stolen for us at no cost to us:goodvibespixiedust:

Never had anything stolen, but I try to remember to take everything with us if we care about it. I have left things in the stroller unintentionally. And I've had the same heart skip a beat reaction when a CM moved it.

We've never had anything stolen, but we have always made it a policy to not buy stuff until we are leaving at the end of the day so that it doesn't hang out in the stroller.

I finally caved and bought a super expensive stroller for my third kiddo, and you better believe that I locked that sucker up when we knew we were going to be gone for more than five minutes. Not to anything, but enough to make it inconvenient for a thief to try and walk off with it.

The most expensive thing I think we've ever left in the stroller was baby food and bottles. Extremely replaceable if someone did steal it.

Well, I usually avoid splitting hairs, but my point *is*...that if they're spending $ to go to Disney (even if they won tix they're still springing for gas, hotel, and food...), but can't afford things like a watch (which I paid $5 for in line at Target), or their own sweatshirts (the one they stole was actually something I picked up in a thrift store...), then that *still* doesn't give them any right to STEAL the belongings of others while there.

So yes...if somebody can afford to go to Disney, then they *can* afford to buy their own thrift store sweatshirts and $5 watches. Just because they're being irresponsible with their money, doesn't mean they couldn't afford necessities over luxuries. If their kid needs a sweatshirt, then they should be purchasing one instead of going to Disneyland.

They're not stealing because they "don't see the magic"....they're stealing because they are greedy, inconsiderate criminals. I seriously doubt they limit their thievery to Disneyland.

P.S. We *are* one of those families who have to save up for a long time for our Disney trips (typically 2 years of saving per trip), and I certainly don't go around stealing things while in the parks simply because I may not have as much money as some other people who are there.

We are past the stroller days, but we never did have anything taken at Disneyland. We did not usually leave valuables (But there were a couple of times we did leave the cameras by accident). But we did keeps coats and the diaper bags.

We had a nice "pixie dust" moment with a fellow guest once. Leaving Disneyland by the emporium - our stroller wheel just flew off. A dad with the same type of double stroller and about 5 kids saw it and stopped. Said something like "Ah, you got a Graco duel rider too" and then reached into his bag and pulled out the piece the disappeared. We had not even had time to investigate what had happened. Apparently it had happened to him before and the company send him several replacements. He never left home without them. We where beyond thankful - Trying to get a broken stroller and two over tired kids back to the hotel would have been a nightmare. I was amazed - what is the chance that somebody with a handful of replacement parts would be standing there when our wheel flew off.

Now our only bad stroller experience happened at Walt Disney World. Our kids were 6 and 9 at the time - so a little beyond stroller age. We were fine until about day 5 or 6. My younger DD's ankle started bothering her. Enough that she and I went back to the hotel before my DH and older DD. My little one was tired and in pain.

The next day we rented a stroller so could rest if needed. Toward the end of the night at the MK - somebody took our stroller while we were in Philamagic. Now I know all the rentals look alike - but it had our name on the placard, a balloon tied to it and a bag of cotton candy in the chair. We needed to get to Tomorrowland - and had a very short about of time to do it. The park was closing and we wanted to get in the final laugh factory for the night. Without being about the push the girls - we did not think we would make it. We ended up getting there just in time as the doors shut.

When it was over - we were looking at a long walk back to and down mainstreet. At this point we were the only guests in the area (the park was now closed) - and there were about 100 empty strollers left in tomorrowland. We told a CM what happened and he said to go ahead and take one of the ones that was left. So at least we were able to have a leisurely walk out of the park (we like closing down the park).

...If their kid needs a sweatshirt, then they should be purchasing one instead of going to Disneyland...

Do you real think anyone is stealing because their kid NEEDS a sweatshirt? They are stealing because they don't care about others.

They're not stealing because they "don't see the magic"....they're stealing because they are greedy, inconsiderate criminals. I seriously doubt they limit their thievery to Disneyland.

If they got "the magic" they'd be there to experience it and not to steal. That was my point.

P.S. We *are* one of those families who have to save up for a long time for our Disney trips (typically 2 years of saving per trip), and I certainly don't go around stealing things while in the parks simply because I may not have as much money as some other people who are there.

Hmmm, my point was clearly lost somewhere. I wasn't just talking all about you. And I never suggested those who save up go around stealing. I really think you misunderstood what I was saying altogether.

My biggest point is, if you don't leave your stuff laying around people won't steal it. Disneyland isn't immune from humanity and all of its evils. People think it's "just a diaper bag" but a thief wonders if there's a camera or some money stashed in there. The parents know it is diapers and other essentials, but nobody else does. If you don't want to lose it, don't leave it in the stroller. We carry a back pack with all the diaper bag stuff and sometimes leave several loose diapers and a couple bottles of water in the stroller. Never anything more than that though. And never bags, even with food, because a thief doesn't have time to see what it is, they just take the bag.
