We are talking about starting next year off right by going to Disney World on New Years Day. Has anyone ever flown on this day. My thinking is that if I fly out early most of the people filled with holdiay cheer will still be in bed from celebrating the night before. Any thoughts on this?

we flew out of las vegas this year. didn't see much of a difference except lots of people looking bleary eyed. LOL. flights were packed though.

Once flew to HNL out of DFW on New Years Day. We taxied out the long track to the runway, began to throttle the engines for take off, and quickly shut down - we taxied back to the gate. Why - a fuel miscalculation - not enough of it! Over the Pacific isn't the best place to run out of fuel... Read a number of articles after that of similar frightening stories happening at airports and in the air on New Years Day - I found the terminals and flights to be less crowded, though. I don't fly on that day anymore....

in 2004 we flew to Sandiego to see family left Christmas day and flew home New years Day they were some of the best flights ever !!!!! not sure whether it was holiday spirit or what but it was a great traveling day

We were at Disney from 1/1-1/5 this year. Flew out of Pittsburgh on a 7:30am flight on 1/1. No problems at all, both PIT and MCO airports were relatively uncrowded and we arrived at CSR by 10:40 am.

Not on NY day, but we have flown on NY eve...and got a really good price as apparently most people don't like to travel that day!
