Just got our private pilot’s license (Cessna 172) and want to do an Orlando trip in the near future (Only 2 hours by air) ..... well, right after we do the Bahamas!!

Do you fly with your little ones, and how little? We have friends that have flown with their children as small as 4 weeks, but I really worry about hearing protection. Little people DO NOT like to wear headphones, and heck, try and find a tiny pair!! Those headrest inserts for their car seats and earmuffs are good ideas, but still not the best protection for prolonged noise....

Anyhow, just wondering which airport you thought was best as far as location and amenities. I was thinking Sanford but am not sure.

Would love to hear from other private pilots!!!

(Charleston to Myrtle Beach in 26 minutes last weekend)whoohoo!!!

Congrats on your new pilot's license. I've had mine since '86. I've always wanted to, but I've never flown down there personally (except on MS Flight Simulator :teeth: ) but I would think that Kissimmee Gateway (ISM) would be your closest choice. AOPA's airport directory should give you all the info you need on that airport (note: it's listed under Orlando).

Speaking of MS Flight Simulator, it's a blast to land the Cessna Caravan (Amphibian) on the Seven Seas Lagoon.......then, as you taxi close to shore, put the wheels down and taxi up onto the beach of the Polynesian. :teeth:
Once, I didn't put the wheels down soon enough and got the floats mired in the sand/mud in front of the Magic Kingdom.
It's really cool how well they simulated Cinderella's Castle, Space Mountain and the Contemporary.

Have fun flying down there. I envy you!

:sunny:

Without doubt, the Kissimmee Gateway airport is the one to use.

Good FBO facilities are available. Use the website that another poster listed. Good luck.

I just knew that Kissimee would have a good one!! Thank you for the input!!! Looks like we better look into ressies, even if it's just for a tie down for the day.

MS simulator is GREAT!!! I haven't thought about trying that Disney flight before, I'm always trying to make it cross country to Vegas!!hehehe

Thank you for the response, we haven't joined any clubs yet, not even AOPA (it's in the mail). But or course the first thing I thought of when we started talking flying to WDW, was the great folks on the Dis. THANK YOU!!!
