I am flying with them in May and just wanted some opinions on how their service was.

Actually, I have nothing BUT experience with Allegiant Air. I fly on Allegiant every 6 wks to 3 months from Vegas to the midwest and can honestly say I have no complaint. Well, maybe one, they don't have any sort of frequent flyer program. That would be nice. Do you have any specific questions?

I have talked to many who have flown on Allegiant Air. Very few complaints. Many passengers have complimented the airlines on the seats and the courtesy of the employees. The direct flights are great and it seems like Allegiant pretty much keeps to its schedules. Many like going to their smaller airports closer to their home towns and the less passenger traffic they have to put up with.

The only drawback is Allegiant lands 30 miles farther from the Disney, Sea World and Universal properties and there is no DME to the Orlando Sanford International Airport. So you have to find your own transportation. You are just going to have to set aside about $100.00 each way for car service or taxi. The shuttles from there are really taxis in that they don't leave until they have a minimum number of passengers, which will gross them $100.00 each way. The rentals run you about $200.00 to $400.00 per week.

In other words, plan your ground transportation ahead of time. Actually the taxis on the stand run by meter and the rate to Disney on the meter is about $110.00.

We would like to try them, but our schedules never mesh.:rotfl:

Figured it might be good if we were doing a "rental car" trip, since you would need the car to get to WDW.

Anybody ever fly with them to Orlando specifically from Youngstown, Ohio? I was wondering what the airport was like. Are rental cars more/less expensive at Sanford compared to MCO?

I flew then last year. They were very friendly. It was from a small airport.
I would definately consider flying them again.

We used them in February and just booked our June travel with Allegiant. From Greenville, SC to Orlando - The plane was nice and everyone was friendly. Sanford is a very small airport and not hard to find everything. We used Toll 417 and traffic was not a problem (just plan about 1 hour to get to Disney property). We decided to rent a car and will still save considering Delta is $300 each.

i hear this all the time and i don't believe it is true, we use mousesavers codes and pick the smallest car we really need, usually get a upgrade at the counter, for a little more, we are using Alamo because we got it for $95/week when we bought our plane tickets from Allegiant, all ears has good driving direction if you need them

oh yeah>>> remember, you could rent for just 1 day and pick up some groceries, then drop it off at dolphin, so a 1 day rental from the airport and then pick it up to go back
that might work better for you..
