Anyone ever flown Skybus?

I am getting a little nervous about our Disneyland trip in April and my first reason is Skybus. Has anyone flown Skybus from Ohio to Burbank? Was the airline okay? How was the leg room? Do they allow carry-on luggage? I was able to get $10 flights for 3 of us in April (I got them almost 4 months ago - when the rates first came out) but now I am worried because no one I know has ever flown Skybus.

Thanks to anyone that can reassure me about this airline.

You got a really great deal!! I have never flown them (I work for an airline, and that was not one that we ever used for our passengers) Maybe you can try a google search for the airline...you may be able to find some sort of airline review? Have fun!!

We'll be interested in getting your review of Skybus when you get back.

My family of 5 will be flying the Ohio to Burbank route in June, also on the $10 fares (yay!). While this will be my first time on Skybus, I have reports from several people who have used it, and they are all positive. The main advice I have gotten is to follow the Skybus suggestion and get to the airport VERY early, at least two hours. I am under the impression that they do allow carry on bags, but you can't bring food or drink. You have to buy theirs.

Skybus has a lot of good information on their website. I felt reassured after I had read through it a couple times. Now if they can just stay in business until June, I'll be in good shape...

Good luck!

We flew from Colombus to Ft. Lauderdale and had a good experience. The plane to Florida was very roomy and we had plenty of leg room. The flight was not crowded. They are very similar to southwest in the way they board. They will load you up quickly after everyone is in line. It is weird to see flight attendants dressed in black t shirts and street clothes. The pilots had on bomber jackets which was funny. If you want food you have to sneek it on because they do not allow it. The food they offer is like $10 for a meal and $2 for a drink. The one thing they are not big on is being on time. So just relax and don't be in a hurry to get anywhere. We arrived 30 minutes late and on our return the flight was an hour late in boarding. You should be fine as long as you don't have to get somewhere at a specific time. They are very friendly and after paying $10 for a ticket you would be surprised at how easily you become less picky. LOL
How early did you book those flights from when you got the email? I would love to get that deal to Cali. We paid full price, but it was worth it for a straight flight.

:wave2: We flew from Columbus to Burbank on Skybus in October with my DH and 3 kids. It was great! You got an AWESOME deal getting the $10 flights! We got $150 RT tix and thought we did great. MY DH does business in the Anaheim area, so we decided to take a trip to DLR! Skybus is different, but as long as you know what to expect, you should have a good experience. The planes are brand new which is nice.
We each had a carry on bag, so we did not check our luggage, therefore avoiding the charge per bag. They WILL check car seats and strollers at no cost. We gate checked our stroller. As far as getting there extra early? Just like Southwest, it depends on when you get your boarding pass via computer 24 hrs. prior as to which group you will board in. For an extra $10 per person, you can upgrade to priority boarding. It is up to you how early you want to get on line depending on how important where you sit is since it is open seating. They do board from both the front AND the back of the plane to expedite things, so be aware of that.
They make themselves appear to be pretty strict on not allowing food on board. They definately will make you get rid of any coffee cups, etc. you may have. My kids have severe food allergies, so I packed their own food for them and told them upfront about it (even had a dr note if needed, but we didn't) and they had no problem with it. DH and I did get food, we ordered a fruit plate and a breakfast sandwich with potatoes and shared between us.
Yes, it is expensive, but it was pretty good and a good serving size. Consider it no different than anyother airport food cost wise. The drinks on the other hand are a rip off. The coffee cups are tiny and the bottled waters are small as well. I would bring my own drink in my bag next time.
Everything is sold separately and they come down the aisle twice to sell you items. This is a way to make profits for them.
Skybus has it's own terminal area in Columbus, so it is fine, but shares space (or a sliver) in Burbank. It is easy to miss, so don't panic.
Both Columbus and Burbank are easy airports to navigate and get in and out of (well, relatively speaking).
As far as their time record, I have heard that other routes may have issues, but from what we've heard and my DH's experiece, since he flies it a lot, is that this route is usually on time. Believe me, they get you in, out and turned around really quickly!
That is all I can think of right now, post any more questions you may have and enjoy! :yay:

Thank you so very much. That reply was so helpful.... We are very excited to try Skybus and I will post how it goes.

We signed up for email alerts on their website and we were emailed when new dates were opened. At about 5:30 a.m. the morning they opened new dates - I booked 3 flights for $10 each way from Columbus to Burbank. If you want to be alerted about new flights you need to sign up your email on their website. Hope that helped explain how I got $10 tickets to peyjax.

News reports are saying that Skybus has ceased operations, and http://www.skybus.com confirms it. Hope the OP can salvage her vacation somehow.
