Anyone ever eatin at the Akersus Resturant?

I see that you can eat with the Disney Princesses and things, but you eat Norweigen food?? Anyone tried it? and how was it?

We had breakfast there - which is regular breakfast food (eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, pastries - and these yummy potatoes!). The princesses were wonderful! We are doing this breakfast again!

I vote for breakfast too! It was really wonderful...
Cold buffett for cheeses fruit and some meat then the hot platter served to the table. I still think of those potatoes!

We did this breakfast years ago and I remember that it was not a buffet but plated and we were finished eating before one princess came into our little room. We had to wait an extra 30-45 minutes before our daughter could see all of them . I don't know if it was bad timing or just our dumb luck. I do remember that the food was okay but we prefer a buffet.

It used to be a very good buffet with a kaltbord and hot foods. Then they still kept the excellant kaltbord (such things as six kinds of herring) and you ordered the hot food from the server (and could order multiple hot items).

Then they brought in the Pricesses and it has been dumbed down considerably, and there really is not a good assortment of Norwegian food anymore.

We went for the princess breakfast and were not impressed. The character experience was good for the kids, but the food was not special (it was boring, traditional American breakfast food). The meal wasn't terrible, but how good can eggs, bacon, and potatoes be?? I had expected more ethnic options based on suggestions from others who went in years past. The biggest issue for us, just how crowded this place was.......this is the most crowded buffet on WDW property. The tables were so close together, when the chairs were pushed in at the table there was less then 6 inches between your chair and the chair behind you. I know they need to cram as many tables in there as possible, but I hate feeling like every move I make could disrupt other guests' meal (yes, we were that close to them). My DW was the only one who was able to make the run over to the buffet for the cold foods because the space was too limited for the rest of us to do it........she was on the outside corner. Like I said, the characters were good, the food was ok, but if comfort is important then pass on this restaurant. JMHO.

Do the breakfast unless you really like "adventurous" food. The character interaction is good and we thought the food was awesome.

There is a cold bar with Jarlsberg swiss cheese, meats, pastries, fruit, etc then they bring out the hot food family style. The potatoes are very good and are not something you can get just anywhere.

Granted, we never tried the lunch/dinner but it seemed to exotic for our "meat and potatoes" tastes.

The breakfast here has become a "must-do" for us. It will call off work my 180th day out just to make sure I call when the lines open so we can get it. It is that good.

I love the food here! We've been for lunch once before Princesses and twice with Princesses - and have an ADR this upcoming September.

Yes, we do have some Scandinavian in us , but to me it seems pretty normal food: meat, fish, potatoes, veggies, soup, etc. My favorite is the peppered mackrel on the kaltbord (buffet). Yum! I also love the open-faced salmon sandwich with Jarlsberg-leek soup.

Too bad they did away with the Ringnes beer, though. Carlsberg isn't Norwegian, it's Danish!

We had lunch there last year. The food wasn't very good. The desserts were pretty good though. The princesses were great. We had Cinderella, Princess Aurora, Belle (she was the greeter), Snow White and Alice in Wonderland. They spent a lot of time at our table and we got a lot of great pictures. I would go again, but would try breakfast next time.
