Hello!

I'm really interested in doing the mountain bike adventure tour when the ship is in port in St. Martin. Has anyone here ever done it and if so, is it really worth the $78? Also, one thing that might stop me from being able to do this excursion is that it is for ages 12 and up, which means my DD6 couldn't do it. I'm a single parent, my "alone" time can be precious and I'd really like to do an active excursion. Is it possible to leave DD6 in the kids club while I do this tour on my own? Let me know what you think DISers! thanks!

this is an older thread and i didn't want to start a new one...has anyone done this excursion?? opinions?

A table mate on our cruise last month did the tour and really enjoyed it. So at least one person has done the excursion.

My husband and I did this excursion 2 years ago. We are not athletic whatsoever, and thought it would be a good way to "see the land" and get a bit of exercise. When we walked up to the bike place and saw our tour guide in full cycling gear, we were like, "uh-oh". :scared: Going up one of the mountains was tough, especially when people can't make it and stop suddenly on the side of the road whilst cars are flying by. But, all in all, it was very informational, we saw areas of St Maarten we wouldn't have seen otherwise, and also added a workout to our day.

No, I haven't done it, but we were in a taxi with about 12 people we saw the group of bicycle excursionists go whizzing by us down a steep hill with cars whizzing by them. We all commented that we hoped they good trip insurance with life insurance policies. Not something I would do, but I'm sure it's fun if your not worried about getting hit by a car.

My wife, son and I did this last year during our Disney Fantasy Christmas cruise. We had a good time and I/we would recommend this. As a previous poster wrote there is one hill you have to climb with some pretty heavy traffic. We were instructed to hug the shoulder and do not pass anyone. I was behind a very slow person that finally got off her bike and walked so I just got off the bike and walked the last third of the hill.

My husband and I did it last year. We would not recommend it. The guide leads you through heavy foot traffic on the beach and heavy vehicle traffic on the roads. Our group got split up a few times because people were at different athletic abilities. We did not enjoy it.
