Anyone ever do "A Private Affair" at HH?

My family and I will be doing "A Private Affair" on our Feb. trip to HH. We did it once before, and while some of us loved what we had, others were a little disappointed. My sister thinks she just may have picked the wrong things. So here's the question. If any of you have done it, what reccommendations do you have for appetizers, entrees and desserts. Gordon sent me a couple sample menu choices, but said he can do others. What have some of you had that you loved? I will definitely be getting the crabcake appetizer (it's delicious!), but some of my family do not eat seafood, so that would not work for them. Again, what did any of you just love? I want to give advice to everyone on things that are terrific. This is a special trip. I am taking my sisters and their families and we're getting a Grand Villa. We all can't wait! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

Glad you posted about Private Affair. We're looking forward to trying this out when we visit in June. Does anyone know how far in advance Chef Gordon takes reservations?

Thanks!

I remember like it was yesterday.......crabcakes to begin, a seafood pasta for the entree, and bananas foster for dessert. I feel bad for people who don't like seafood:( . One of my top five dining experiences of all time. Chef Gordon could not be nicer. Looking forward to doing it again.

Ok, I can admit I'm a newbie...please tell us more about the Private Affair as I've never heard of it.

Here is a thread from last year about <a href="http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=322182">A Private Affair.</a>

We have enjoyed it the past 3 years and have already reserved for this July. It is a truly elegant event and Gordon is a gracious and creative host.

It is not offered every night and only allows one reservation each night offered. Advance reservations are strongly suggested.

It used to be offered in the GV used as a model. When the remaining rooms were declared into inventory 2 years ago, it was moved to the Beach House. The dinner has a great view of the ocean.

Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Thanks Doc! We're hoping to go to HH a Thanksgiving so will definitely consider this.

I would definitely recommend making a reservation for A Private Affair as soon as you can pin down a date. This is becoming more and more popular all the time.

We have done Private Affair 3 times, with our 4th scheduled for this April. I can't think of anything that we didn't like, although obviously some dishes were preferred to others. I also agree with the previous poster who said feels sorry for anyone who doesn't like seafood, because it is definitely THE BEST! We had a non-seafood-lover in our group in November, who braved trying the crabcakes and love them!

Chef Gordon is the best; no matter what you have to eat, it will be a wonderful and memorable dinner!

Thanks everyone. Which seafood dishes do you remember absoutely loving? Other than the crabcake appetizer, of course. Everyone wants recommendations on entrees, especially seafood, and desserts.

Thanks again!

We went in August 2003 and absolutely enjoyed it. I booked it in early July and had only one day available out of the 6 that we were going to be there. Book it early. I did however give him the menu the day before. He prefers it earlier though.

Just book it and enjoy it.:bounce:
