Anyone ever do a last minute accommodation booking for outside WDW ROP++

We are wide open for dates in mid April to early May. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to book closer to those dates. We are interesting in staying in a condo near WDW. I note that late April is slow season and alot of VRBO have openings but the prices per night are almost the same for high season. SHould I risk it and wait or should I try to book now? Also if you have done last minute what web site did you use.
