We'll be driving this next trip. So, packing won't be a problem. Is there any down side to bringing your own towels, instead of paying for extras?

We have always brought our own beach towels to use at the pool. No downside to that. Very plush and long length to lay on a lounge chair, plus you can wrap up in it for the walk back to your room later. Just pop them in the washer/dryer and they are good to go for the next swim.

No, never felt the need. We usually find the towels provided to be just fine, and should we need clean ones before trash and towel day, we just throw them in the washer. I do think a beach towel would be nice though, since it can get pretty chilly walking back to the room from a late evening hot tub visit in December or January! :thumbsup2

I bring a beach towel too.

but you don't have too.

the pools are have towels - even the quiet pools.

Maybe I can ask another question. Do you get towel packs per person in your villa? We only had one trip & it was just us 2. We'll going with 3 other family members in January. If you only get one pack, that's seems like a lot of washing?

4 of us recently stayed in BCV. Got 4 sets of towels.

We did have a problem on trash n' towel day...we returned at 6:00 pm to find housekeeping hadn't visited. We called them, an hour later I just grabbed a few from the quiet pool, as our old ones were all wet in the tub waiting to be picked up. No time to wash and/or dry them. We had an ADR to make and I needed showering badly! Mousekeeping finally came up as we were heading out.

Fortunately, we were also right across from the laundry on the 4th floor. We threw in a few wet towels and washclothes in a white load between arrival and TnT day.

I usually don't bring extra towels because I can always grab them from the pool but I do bring extra washclothes. There are never enough. :thumbsup2

We always bring beach towels, I like to have them to walk back to the room, PLUS I can hide my big legs under them, instead of trying to wrap my body in those small towels at the pool :rotfl:

We always bring 2/3 - we like to use them mainly when we go to the water parks (BB & TL). The chairs/lounges stand out and it helps the younger ones find them.

If we run out of clean towels in our room, we just grab 10 or 20 from the pool area and bring them to our studio. :stir:

:rotfl2:

We bring beach towels. And we just hang up our towels in the room. So they are ready to be used the next time.

We bring our kid's hooded poncho type towels for the walk back to the room in an air conditioned building! We always seem to have the rooms that are the longest walks and it tends to be nice and cool which = cold when you are wet!
We have also brought the pool towels back and dried them and used them again. Housekeeping says its ok as they all go in the same truck to be cleaned!
I agree about the face clothes though! usually 2 per sink... so our 2 bed room @ BWV had 6 for 8 of us.

I don't bring towels, but I do bring fitted sheets.

There is nothing that keeps me awake more than the bottom sheet coming untucked & my feet on the bare mattress. I sleep much better when I have a fitted sheet from home!

(I ship it down beforehand to save space in the luggage).

We bring turbie twists and we make sure they are a different color. One time my DD's white turbie twist was accidently taken by housekeeping. God love 'em, they actually searched for it when we called and returned it to us. We called on the off chance that someone may have noticed a towel of a different shape!

If we are going to the water parks, we bring our own cheapie beach towels. At the resort, we use the towels provided by the pool.

We have our first DVC trip planned for January and I am seriously considering packing a couple of towels. At home we use "bath sheets" - you know - really big towels - and we really miss them on vacation. With a washer and dryer in the room I don't see any reason not to bring them, except the room they take up in the suitcase

I brought 2 bath towels for our studio stay (no washer/dryer in room). Allowed our morning towels to dry for the next morning and gave us enough towels to use for pre-dinner showers. Worked perfect for us. I had thought about using pool towels if needed, but I didn't think that was allowed. :confused3

We always bring our own pool towels when we drive. If we fly I usually just throw one in for myself. In regard to towels in the room we have never had a problem. If we find that we don't have enough I leave a note with my tip on trash and towel day asking for a few extra. Never had a problem. I know some people don't tip on that day, but our $$ have never been refused and we sometimes get a little extra (clean up the sink, run the dishwasher, etc.) That's not guaranteed but we have had good success with that. Have fun on your first trip home!

We bring our own sheets but not our own towels.

We just wash the ones they give us our ask for more.

What are turbie Twists? :confused3

Turbie twists are towels designed for wrapping your hair in the towel then wearing it on your head like a turban while the terry cloth absorbs the water. You can achieve the same thing with a bath towel, but sometimes the resulting turban is too large and awkward.
