Anyone ever booked a FW trip with AAA

I was just wondering. We are AAA members and have asked them to put together a package for us. 8 nights and 7 day hopper tickets. I was just wondering if anyone had ever used them to book a FW stay and if so, were they actually any cheaper?

We have not had AAA book our trips to the Fort yet. It would be nice to hear if anyone has. We call reservations and ask for the AAA or Passholder discounts. The AAA discounts are available further out than the Passholder discount. If they do not show any discounts available we will book a site at rack rate and keep calling back to check if they show the discounts available and have them apply the discount to our reservation. We always seem to get the AAA discount. It really makes a difference on the rates. If not for the AAA and Passholder discounts we would not be able to enjoy the Fort as much. I have never paid rack rate for any of our trips to the fort. You really have to work at it to make sure you get the discount.

Thanks for the reply! I called AAA and asked them to come up with a quote for me so that I can compare it with what I've researched on my own. I got the feeling that they must make a bit on the dining plan because no matter how much I tried to explain why I wouldn't need she just kept pushing it

HMMMM! So, What so you Rhonda? Can a package deal save me money so that I will have more money to.... to.... well, spend at Disney? Can any travel agent apply my AAA discount?

These are good questions for Rhonda! Dreams is a Disney-centric travel agency, so you can't do better. And Rhonda is their Fort-expert, so you can't do better. You can PM "Rhonda" or click here to go to Dream's site and pick Rhonda from the list.

Can any travel agent apply my AAA discount?

Yes, they can. Call Rhonda. She will also look out for other discounts that crop up from time to time and if possible get it applied to your booking. Once booked, most AAA agents won't look at your reservation again unless you call them.

We booked through AAA last October. We actually started the whole process in January of 2008, and got a great discount. We got the Disney "trip insurance" because of how far in advance we booked (never know what might happen, and the Disney insurance was less than AAA insurance), but still came out ahead with the discount. One thing about the discounts -- if the discount is available in, say, January of 2008, that discount applies to the dates you are reserving... you don't have to stay in Disney in January of 2008. That is what we got... we reserved our October dates in January, using the "January" discount... if this makes any sense!

One really nice thing about AAA is that whenever I had any questions about Disney World, I called my AAA "agent", and she immediately got a hold of a live person at Disney... seems like they have a hotline or something.

AAA's "trip tic", the small map-type book you get detailing your trip and other information, was not real useful to me. Talking with people on this forum and on OpenRoads forums got me much more detailed information regarding towing a camper down to Fort Wilderness.

We were very happy using AAA.

We booked our '04, '06 and '07 trips through AAA - all packages. Saved us a little, but not all that much. Not sure if time if the year has anything to do with it - those trips were Oct and Nov/Dec (x2)

We pieced together our own room only ressie last year because it was a colossal pain to keep calling them about availability (we ended up having to put together a few ressies to get all the days we wanted).

I happened to be at the AAA office when the window opened for this year's trip, so I had them book it (room only). No discount, but they were good about sitting on the phone with Disney to check out a PIN code I got and will check for AP rates when they come out.

Our local office (Southern NH) has a "Disney Specialist" - who I've found to be very helpful, but at this point (particularly as it pertains to FW) I think I may know more about WDW than she does.
