Anyone ever book an Atlantis room at a day rate?

We went to the Atlantis 2 years ago and I know that to enjoy the BEST of the resort you have to be a paying guest. I called about a day rate but was told I would have to just show up that morning and if there is a room I will get a day rate but we don't know at what price. I was thinking of booking a full rate room (it will be well worth the $$) but don't want to get stuck with no refund if we should miss the port (scheduled day is 12/2/05).

BTW, how would staying at the hotel compare with the Atlantis Beach Day? I know you need a bracelet for the pools and apparently the beach. Is there a separate bracelet just for cruisers who are using the beach?

We visited Atlantis on a day room rate. It was in September (their slow season on a back end of a hurricane) and the rate was $150. It was a much better move for us since we were a party of five. (Atlantis allows five per room) I originally had two rooms (only four wristbands per room) booked at the Comfort Suites but the cost would have been $300 with a 48 hour cancellation. As it turned out, we missed the port on the day we were scheduled. So, I was glad that I had cancelled with all the weather drama. When we docked in nassau I called the hotel and they held a room for me.

If you book the DCL Atlantis beach tour you will NOT be allowed to go to the pools, slides or aquarium. Additionally, it will be more expensive than a day room if you have four in your family.

Keep in mind that the slides have strict height restrictions. Our five year old was very upset when her brother could go on the slides but she could not.

Did you call from the ship or did you use a pay phone on the dock? I heard calling from the ship can be really expensive.

Yes, I did figure it was more expensive to book the tour but I was afraid that they wouldn't have any rooms due to the ship being in.

We were there 2 years ago and absolutely LOVED it so I'm thinking I may go for booking the entire night and just checking out early so I am guaranteed a room. There is no way we can bring my son back there and say no slides, no "fish tank", no pool. When we went I think we only did the beach for 1 morning (my DD was only 5 months old).

$250. for a day room and full access for 4 of us at the pools, lagoon, beach, slides, the dig, and aquarium. It was cheaper than a day at the beach with nothing else from DCL's excursion at $60. a person.

Get a room, well worth it and much more for less than what DCL provides you on their Atlantis Beach Day.

Thanks, I did find a full night room for $245 so I think I will take it. Looks like they may charge me the same or more upon arrival and then I run the risk of being shut out. We will be there 12/2 so that may be peak time for Atlantis.

Anyway, thanks for all the great advice. I'd love to hear anyone else's experience with obtaining (or not obtaining) a day room.

Hopefully I can get a 24 hour cancellation policy. If not, what can you do. This trip is going to be our most expensive anyway!

We booked a day room at Atlantis this past Sept...for $150 flat...(including taxes and fees)...Well worth it to us. We just walked into Atlantis the day we arrived at the port.

If you have more than four in your party though I'd check on the number of wristbands you get. I remember not to long ago someone who just came back was a little upset because they had heard from these boards that you could get five wristbands...So when they went (the five of them)...and were told no only four pre room...they were a little upset. So if you have more than 4 people...call Atlantis first and ask how many you'll get.

The beach day at Atlantis...that DCL offers would be a okay deal...but you DON'T get acess to use any of the pools, slides or lagoons. So if that's what your wanting..a day room or regular room is the way to go.

Our day room at the Royal Tower was $250 plus taxes and charges. We could only do it this way since we have 5 in our family. I called from the ship and booked the room and the call ran about $12.

I guess you have to pay for whatever tower is available. For that price I might as well just book an entire night's stay. I'll be guaranteed a room and it may be cheaper than what some have paid for Royal. We only need 4 wristbands so it should be OK. It will be nice also to be able to shower in the room, get dressed for dinner and head right back to the ship's dining room.

When we went it cost huge $$$$ to eat at Atlantis.

My little one is only 3 and won't be able to ride many of the slides either, but I don't think it matters the age, if you want your child in the "restricted areas" they need the wristband. I don't figure you plan to leave the child in the lobby? I think per person means exactly that, regardless of age.

I think EVERYONE in your party has to have a braclet...even the two year old...I'd check and see...Plus she'd be using the things like the dig, pools, beach, lagoons...really just not the "bigger" slides. So I'd check on that first...Hate to book a room all night or just for the day...to find out you don't have enough wrist bands. JMO.

Oh....and YES you remember right...the food was VERY $$$$

Well, straight from the horse's mouth. I just called the Atlantis. I can book a regular room in the Coral or Beach Towers for 5 people since 2 of them are children and one of them a 2 year old.

The woman on the phone said when I check in they most likely will not put a wristband on the baby as they can be a bit uncomfortable and I mentioned she may cry and fuss about it. Also she said, since it's not a day rate but a full night rate ($220) we should have very little problem obtaining any of the services offered including an extra child's wristband.

So, that was the call today - we'll see what happens when we arrive!

Atlantis Beach day DOES include the aquarium and free lunch. With only 2 or 3 people this is a better deal. Be there shortly!!!!!!!

They have a great kiddie pool with really small slides over by the Royal Towers. My 1 and 3 year olds loved it when we were there last time. Check out this area. The place is so big some people don't get over to the two different kiddie areas.

Ok, so if you actually book a room what is their cancellation policy? Just curious since we're going in sept and its always possible we'd miss the port. Also, is the limit 5 people when booking a room like this? We have 6 so we're thinking we'll need 2 rooms. We've been lucky enough to meet another nice couple from our roll call on these boards who are willing to split the cost of the 2nd room with us as everything I've read so far says that day rooms will only allow 4 people per room, and I hate to be stuck paying if we miss the port for some reason. Also, when you called, did you ask about day rooms?

I asked about day rooms but you have to call that morning or just show up to see if they are available. From what I've seen you only get 4 bands with a day room unless it is in the Royal Towers. You can get 5 or even 6 wristbands (as long as no more than 3 are adults) with just one room if you book the whole night. They are more accomodating to full paying guests from what she kind of said - kwim. I didn't ask about the cancellation policy but I'm pretty sure it is 48 hours. They require one night's deposit so you will have already pre-paid if you book the room.

I'm just going to book and cross my fingers we don't miss the port (not sure how likely that is early Dec. but you never know). It's such a small amount compared to what we are already spending on this trip so I'll take the chance. You can always fight it out with your credit card if you have to but I don't know how far you'd get since they are very clear about the cancellation policy when you book.
