We've never been.

I've heard they also do birthday parties. I checked them out online but I can't really figure out how they work it out???

My son will be turning 14 next weekend and this is something I'm thinking of doing for his birthday. Not sure if I want to do a full-out party there with a few friends OR just having the four of us (me, dh and Ds13 & Ds15) go and have a good meal, play some games and have a good time.

Since last year, DS13 said he didn't really want a party and just wanted the four of us to go to Olive Garden (he loves their pizza???) LOL Then he changed his mind and said that he wanted a cross necklace instead. And now he's undecided on what he wants to do.

If we do decide to have a party at Dave & Busters, how much of a notice do they need to book it? I mean his birthday is on March 6th, but he doesn't necessarily need to have his party on that day.

And if you've had a party there, how was the experience? Was is too costly? Was it worth it? How much did it cost/what did it include? And how much game play do you get?

I've never had a planned birthday party there, but I love Dave and Busters. It's a fun place!!

Sounds like it. The assorted sticks-in-the-mud here in Burlington are throwing up roadblocks preventing them from putting a D&B across Middlesex Tpke from the Burlington Mall. Grrrr... we could use the added tax-base, not to mention that we need another eatery!

My employer does our Christmas parties there and it's a lot of fun. They have party rooms so for eating time you are not sitting out in the regular dining area.

We also get the bowling lanes reserved for our use during the party.

As for food, we get cheeseburger sliders, nachos, pizza bites, cheese and crackers, and chicken tender type things. We also get a 10.00 game card and since we are all adults we get 2 drinks included. Not sure what the cost is but each employee pays 5.00 if they go.

Looks like for birthday parties the cost starts around 20.00 a person.

That is one of my boys' favorite places, I don't think their food is good, but i guess it doesn't matter because nobody really goes there for the food.

They have packages for birthdays & parties, I think it is a great idea to host your DS14 birthday there :goodvibes

Have fun!

Well, I've been looking online and I saw that they have an eat/play combo for $15.99. You get a meal plus a $10 game card. I'm sure the game card doesn't go too far in playing the games, right? LOL

I'm thinking instead of having to pay for a bunch of kids to go (probably cost around $250) I'm going to talk to DH and see if he just wants to have the 4 of us go up there and enjoy the day.

I figure at $16pp, that's $64. We'll get 4 game cards (we'll give each of the boys ours and let them play) plus probably put more $$$ on the cards. If I bring $100 with me, that should be enough to put extra on the game cards, right?

I was just asking my cousin about the place (she's been) and she said that we would probably be there for lunch AND dinner. I just don't see that happening though. LOL We'd probably do the lunch crowd on a Sunday, have lunch play for a while and then head home. How long do you usually stay there for?

That's too bad. I have a blast when I go with my friends. I especially love the trivia game. But only when I win :lmao:

I think their food is pretty good. Not gourmet, but they have some fun stuff on their menu.

It's also a great place to go to hang out and watch a game (pick a sport... LOL).

We have only been there for a bowling party, never the game room type party but we go there on our own often. I rarely get out of there without spending 100.00 for the two of us.

I have never been, but they are building one in Orlando on I-drive. Supposed to be open by the summer..I cannot wait.

We have one right down the street and have never been there since moving in. I've gone several times, though, when I was younger. We live where there are a lot of colleges, so the location near us is always full of drunk college kids (much like our apartment complex..), but D&B is a pretty fun place to go. The food isn't very good, but the games are always fun! I don't think it would be worth it to have to pay for several kids to go.. it's the kind of place where everyone really will end up running off and playing their own game, so it won't really benefit anyone to have a ton of extra kids to have to look after and pay for. That's just my opinion though.. but go with just your family and enjoy!

Actually, your meals will be closer to $20pp when you figure tax and tip and if you have a drink, at least $2 more. If you give the boys your cards and have another 10 to add to the cards, that should be plenty. So, I would bring an extra $10 or 20 to be safe. The game cards don't go very far.

Eating and playing games, I would say 2 1/2 to 3 hours max.

OK is it embarrassing to admit that I'm in my 50s and I love going to Dave & Busters?

Maybe check for specials? I know our D&Bs has Half Price Game Night on Wednesdays. Or see if there are coupons around. We've gotten coupons for Buy 10 dollars, get 10 dollars free in the valpak mailing. Tons of fun, though

Bicker, I'm very familiar with burlington. where exactly are they hoping to put one in?

Where the Dodge dealership was.

It's a great location for D&B... Interstate frontage so they'll be able to put a nice lighted sign visible to the highway. And easy on/off MA128 southbound. The problem, of course, is traffic heading into D&B coming off of MA128 northbound, and traffic heading out of D&B heading toward MA128 northbound.

We went to one (Long Island) a couple of years ago, and the kids and the parents had a blast! The food (at least what I had) was delicious as well.

One of my DF's and I took our kids with us a few months ago and everyone loved it. The food was really good, I'd put it on the same ground as a Carrabas type place. But it was all very expensive so I would go with what the PP said about going on a discount day.

Another idea for that age group is go-carts. My 13 year old son went to a birthday last week and came home raving about how much fun it was. They've also done Laser Tag and loved it.

I love having a son this age, Happy Birthday for your boy:goodvibes

Love Dave and Busters. We take the kids every few months. It can get very expensive but we feel the food is good. Think Chuck E Cheese for adults without the mouse, way more games and better food.

I had DS's First Holy Communion party there a few years ago. It was pricey but everyone had a blast.
