Contemplating popping along to either Chef Mickey around 8am or 1900 Park Fare at 8:15am on the 7th January. I'm on my own due to work not allowing anyone else off at that time of year and don't really want to miss out on too much due to that.
So, has anyone ever been to one of these character meals by their self? Don't really want to look like a complete loser or whatever when I sit at a table for 4 or whatever with loads of families all around.

I'm going to Cape May solo and I'm looking forward to it! :cool1: I don't care if someone looks at me funny....I'll look at em right back the same way! :rotfl:

I have 4 booked for my upcoming solo trip: Akershus, Chef Mickeys, Tusker House, and CRT...I am a little worried but I'm sure it will be fine...all the other families will be too concerned about their kids to worry about me being alone...I hope LOL

The only times I've felt awkward eating alone is the down time between courses. The character meals shouldn't have much of any down time. Just make sure you have something to read/look at during those times. The park map/schedule for today... the park map/schedule for the park you are visiting tomorrow... As long as you are having a good time and participating in the show, all will be well.

Once when the kids were little, The family and I were at Crystal Palace and we were seated near a solo.. we took pictures of her with the characters and she helped us get family shots.. and then we started to chat and we chatted and chatted.. we all had a greart time and thanked her for helping us make the dinner special..

so going solo to charcter meals makes the dinner very special for all..

I did CRT and CP on my last trip. I was solo and a little concerned beforehand. It was fine.

At CRT, I didn't need my picture taken with the princesses, so I just took a picture of them and that was it. They didn't interact much with me, but I was not there for that, I was there to be in the castle! I told Sleeping Beauty that she was my nephew's favorite princess and she told me to give him a kiss for her. It was sweet. I loved watching the family beside me that had what seemed like a grandmother with them- the family (or at least the kids) all got pictures with the princesses, and then the grandmother would get hers done alone.

Then at CP I had a WONDERFUL waitress. When she realized I was solo, she said she'd make sure to be nearby when the characters came by so that she could take my picture. She was extra sweet.

I really enjoyed them and I would do it all over again if I had the chance! :)

Yup, as I found out that's quite true. I'm a big fan of character meals solo, and I never thought I'd say that until I mustered up my courage and actually went to one. I wanted a big buffet breakfast and I was at the BC, so Cape May was the logical choice, even though it had characters. But I found it so much fun to watch the kids interacting with the characters, and so time went by very quickly. If no one was around to take a picture when a character came, I handed the camera to the character and said "I'd just love to have my picture taken with you. Do you think someone would take it?" Then he/she would take my camera, run over to someone (guest/server/handler) and motion to take our picture. It made for lots of fun when the character approached other guests. No one dares say "No" to Minnie! In addition to Cape May, I've also gone to Tusker House and to Crystal Palace. Great places to dine solo-live entertainment!

I've gone and booked 3 breakfasts around 10am at Akershus, Chef Mickey and 1900 Park Fare (fit in nicely around the times for the marathon weekend). I will be making sure I get my photos taken with all the characters.
Hopefully they won't be overly crowded although I'm not holding my breath for that occurance.

I'm going to Crystal Palace for breakfast on Dec. 23rd by myself and really looking forward to it! :cloud9:

I've done most of the character meals solo (all but Ohana, 1900 Park Fare breakfast, and Cape May breakfast). I enjoy doing them by myself, and like the character interaction
