Anyone enter AK through the Rainforest Cafe???

A friend mentioned this to me but I've never tried it...just wondering if anynone goes that way into the park or if it's closed off.

I usually do, but didn't take in to consideration that it wasn't open during EMH. We tried on Monday, but it wasn't open yet. It technically wasn't open at 7:30am, but the guy let us in and we walked around the gift shop while it was raining lightly. It was done raining by the time the park opened, so even though we didn't use it, we enjoyed not being out in the rain.

There are ticket turnstiles there just like at the regular park entrance. I am not sure why you would want to go out of your way to do this, unless you stopped in there to shop or eat. I have re-entered the park through these turnstiles after lunch. No different from entering the park normally.

We always have breakfast at Rainforest on our AK day and use the back entrance. No lines at all and no problems. My kids think it's our little secret.

Is there supposed to be some advantage to entering AK this way?

If so, I don't know what it could be, except if your were planning to visit Rainforest Cafe anyway.

This entrance might be less crowded, but it is also out of the way. If you were trying to get up front for rope drop, it wouldn't make sense to enter this way. If you are trying to avoid a crowd entering the park, you are walking quite a distance to do that, and if it is crowded, it is likely that the gift shop that you have to walk through to get to the entrance will be crowded, too.

Let's don't tell anyone else about our "secret".Hardly anyone uses this entrance at Park Opening.I have used this entrance when the line at the main turnstiles was way past the ticket booths and been one of the first to arrive at Rope Drop.During my last trip,the CM actually opened "our" turnstile a few minutes before they opened the main turnstiles and everybody was looking at us as we appeared before them ALREADY in the Park.

Less crowded. Let's you get ahead of the crowd, if you can walk briskly.

We do it every time we go, especially if the main gate lines are long. A lot of people don't know the separate entrance exists, unless they have eaten there, and never think to take this route. Never waited in a line at the "secret gate" as we call it.

ok...this is off topic but does anyone know if they have build a bear in that Rainforest Cafe location? They have it in the one here in MN at the Rainforest Cafe at the Mall of America. I read online they do have one at the AK location but not sure if it was true...anyone know for sure?

You enter at the same time as the main entrance(theoretically-I have actually been let in shortly BEFORE the main entrance before).You will see The Adventure Begins(opening show) just like the Main Gate Guests.The Adventure Begins takes place on Discovery Island.

I always use the Rainforest entrance. Saves so much time.
