Anyone Else's Teen Daughter Not Like To Wear Shorts?

It is so very strange . . .how can anyone not like to wear shorts? She claims she hates shorts and will take them on vacation but doesn't know if she'll actually wear them because she is also taking jeans. During the summer she is never wearing shorts because she sits home all day in the a/c.

Imagine walking around WDW wearing jeans . . .I figure I won't make an issue of it and let her wear what she wants . . .She is so thick sometimes . . . I'm hoping she'll wear the jeans and complain she's too hot . . .

Anyone else's teen not wear shorts?

Yep..my oldest is not a huge shorts fan. She will wear skirts, but doesn't like shorts too much. She did wear them a WDW once or twice, but wore jeans alot more.

My DH also will not wear shorts at all. He only puts them on when he gets in the pool to clean it.

Last year was the first summer I wore shorts regularly since I was a pre-teen (I'm 26 now). The reason was simple. I hated my legs (pasty white with skinny ankles). I just don't care anymore.

I can remember as a teen not wanting to wear shorts at the beginning of the season because my legs were so white. Then after a couple trips to the pool I was good to go.

My DS16 doesn't like shorts either and very, very rarely will wear them. He's a camp counselor and summers here can get hot but he doesn't care. It's jeans every day with him.

I'm 19 and I still don't like shorts. My mom was sure I'd grow out of it but I am very self-conscious about them. I think they're fat But I'm trying to work out more so that I can wear some this summer. Plus, I'll be working in Disneyworld starting August 17th and I know it's gonna be super hot!

My oldest daughter hates shorts too. She was a camp counselor and I say she mainly wore jeans. She was a lifeguard in the afternoon and she wore her suit with athletic pants. She will wear capri's sometimes. She just hates shorts-she looks good in them, but she says she just don't like them.

My DD is a non shorts wearer too. She will wear summer skirts and sometimes capris. Yours isn't the only one.

I don't like shorts. I prefer skirts and dresses in the summer.

I'm nearly 30 and I don't wear shorts either. I'll wear skirts, dresses, or capris and sometimes even pants - even at Disney World in the middle of July. I just don't like the look of shorts on me or anyone else.

i'm not a teen, but i hate shorts. i usually wear capris or skirts.

I hate shorts too. I just can never seem to find shorts that are the right length. They are all either way too short or way too long. So I wear capris in the summer mostly, as well as athletic shorts because I have a few that are the right length for me.

When I was that age, I rarely wore shorts because my legs were so skinny.

Once I hit my 20's, I didn't care anymore. I'm in my 40's now and still wear 'em (and I'm grateful for skinny legs now!)

Maybe they make her feel self-conscious. I know when I was that age, I always thought people were looking at me and judging me. With age comes the realization that most people are too caught up in themselves to judge others on appearance. (I keep telling my teen dd this but she doesn't really believe me yet!)

I had the opposite....my teenage sons would never wear jeans. And it occasionally does get cold down here in FL (relatively speaking) but they'd still be in shorts.

When I was a teenager, I never used to wear shorts. I never used to wear tank tops either. I used to be very self-conscious about my body and would try to cover up as much as I could. I eventually grew out of it when I started college, because I didn't care what people thought about me anymore.
