Anyone elses tax refund delayed?

I did get a refund but it's a few thousand less that turbo tax said...maybe it has something to do with the adoption credit. They will be sending a letter, so I'll have to wait to find out. I want ever penny!!!!

The IRS is giving out partial refunds for many of those with the adoption tax credit. They are giving you a refund of what you would have gotten without the adoption tax credit refund, then the adoption tax credit refund portion is being placed on hold as they review your file.

We e-filed on 2/14..accepted 2/16..talked to an IRS rep on 3/15..she said the IRS received our return on 2/22 and to give it 3 weeks from that date. When I check WMR it still says they should be sending us a notice..The IRS Rep said a letter was mailed out 3/14 but still have not received anything.. very very frustrating!!!!

We just got a letter Friday saying that we need to provide more info for the Adoption credit - I can't remember exactly, but something for proof of adoption and receipts were on the list of what we need to submit. It said that we should hear back within 45 days of the receiving it, and it we don't, we should call.

We did get the partial refund around a month ago, but none of the refund that pertains to the ATC. Our tax preparer said that it has happened to several clients of his. Last year we got 1/2 of the credit, and did not have any delay, this year is the balance and now we have to prove it? Shouldn't they have worried about that last year? Now that they have changed the credit so that it does not carry over, I am wondering if they are trying to delay paying out

I thought I would see if anyone with the Adoption tax credit has heard anything further. We just keep getting letters saying we need this paperwork (sent again as we already sent it with tax forms), recieved paperwork, and the last letter was we will be reveiwing your paperwork by June 20th. This is so frustrating. I wouldn't worry about it if it was a little bit of money but it is ALOT of money and we were hoping to pay off 2 bills with it. Hopefully we will get our return in July. This isn't about the adoption tax credit but our refund is delayed because we e-filed the same way we've been e-filing for years and suddenly the IRS is saying the name we have down for my daughter isn't the name that's on her Social Security Card - even though it bloody well IS!

So we had to send in a bunch of forms via snail mail insisting that that was, in fact, her name.

And so we wait.

Your mistake was not to wait until the last day and make a mistake

I kid you not. Somehow I managed to put the wrong SSN down. Got mine wrong but my wife's right. I used Turbotax and paper filed.

I got a notice from the state asking for a correction. I figured I better contact the feds to see what I need to do. Their response was have you checked with your bank, a refund has already been made. They tracked it with my wife's SSN and made the corrections. I also got the refund within two weeks.

We are still waiting for ours. We got a letter stating our paperwork was received and correct so we will get a check in the next 4-6 weeks. I will believe it when we see it. We sent our information to them in Feb.

I'm watching my neighbors home while they are on vacation and when I got their mail today, the only thing that came was that little brown envelope that a federal tax refund comes in. I know nothing about when they filed or how they filed, but just wanted to let you know that a federal check did come for them nearly 4 months after tax deadline date...today! Hang in there.

Still waiting for my adoption tax credit after resending my documentation and my accountant writing a letter. The only good thing is a friend just got hers so I am holding out hope they approve mine.
