Anyone else's husband (or wife!) going to Cisco conference?

Hi - My husband will be at the Anaheim Cisco conference July 25-26 and my 1-y/o DD and I will be wandering the area solo. Wanted to see if any other moms were in the same position and would be interested in getting together for a character breakfast and/or some exploring? We are not hitting the parks those days, just Downtown Disney and such. In my experience such things are more fun with other moms, and my daughter loves other kids!

My DH is also attending the Cisco conference. We will be there July 21st-27th. We are staying at the Hyatt. We're not bringing our (3) kids. I'd like to but it would cost too much for all of us to fly. Maybe we can meet up sometime. My DH will be in the conference during the daytime.

We'll be there, too! I will have my 10 year old and my 1 year old daughter, and would love to meet. We're staying at HoJo's and have 5 day Parkhopper passes, since we're staying for a week (Saturday to Saturday). My mom is coming from Sunday to Thursday (thank goodness) to help so we can have fun at the parks. We have a $50 companion ticket on Alaska, and DH's flight will be paid, and my youngest flies free, so I think airfare is only costing us about $300 out of pocket.

Are your DHs going to catch the Kiss concert Wednesday night? I think it's hilarious, but DH is excited. I'm thrilled we get the chance to have part of a trip to DL subsidized, though I would never be travelling there in July if it wasn't for the conference. I'm not a good hot weather person.

And hey! It's possible that somebody's DW could be going to the conference, right? :)

Of course you're right; I should have asked if anyone's "spouse" was going! My pre-baby brain would have known better! I blame the hormones. ;)

We are staying at the Doubletree Suites and plan on wandering around Downtown Disney and the hotels Wednesday and Thursday, and were thinking about going to the StoryTeller's Cafe character breakfast on Thursday morning. Does that work with anyone else's plans?

I am with you on the hot weather... we would never do this if it weren't for the conference. And my DH is terribly excited about the Kiss concert... I find the whole Kiss/technology conference concept really funny.

I've been dying about the Kiss Concert-and a chance to see the "famous" ACDShe, too. Are you going to pay the $300 to go to the social events?

I'm trying to get my husband to get me the information about exactly when he'll be engaged in conference activities, as I find the Cisco website confusing-there's lots of stuff scheduled for days but I don't really get what part of it he'll be participating in. He is awful at figuring that sort of thing out, though, which is driving me crazy as I'm trying to plan. I want to make BB lunchtime PS's and don't know what day, for instance.

I think we won't be going into the park on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on his schedule and when my mom will be there. It'd definitely be fun to connect. I haven't decided yet if we're going to do a character breakfast or not-if we do, it will be Storyteller's-as my older daughter says she doesn't want to.

And man, how can you stand to be this close to the park and not go!?!?!?! I'd die.

I'm going to NANOG next week in Seattle, didn't know about the Cisco Conference :/ I want to go now. I wonder if the boss will let me.

I am not going to any of the social events... with the time zone difference I am going to take the first couple of days just to try and get DD used to "late" nights! We are staying Wednesday to Monday so we are going to the parks Friday - Sunday. Don't worry, there is no way I would fly all the way out there and not go! I am SO excited. We had planned to take our DD to WDW when she got a little older but this just happened to come up. I am getting a lot of flak from people telling me she's too young to take but I think she will love all the things to look at and the people (she loves to be around people and expecially kids). I know I will have fun, and firmly believe that happy/excited parent=happy/excited baby. We have a grocery store near us that has "characters" roaming around (cows and such) and we started taking here there to get her used to costumes and see how she would react. She loved them, so I am very optimistic.

Have you taken Mary or Else before?

I haven't looked at the Cisco website since my DH is only going the two days. He did send me a link to a site where you can get discounted DL tickets through Cisco, though, did you see that?
