Think that the discount is less than stellar?
I don't know what I was hoping but we went last October with free dining- $1,300

If we do s/p/d- it's $2,200

Room offer- around $1,640.

I guess we will stick to the fall... :/

yes, it's definitely not as good as free dining. We always go in February because it's my son's birthday, but I might try to convince hubby to go in the fall next time when there's free dining!

Yea, we went Feb 2011 with free dining and Sept 2012 and Oct 2013 with it... I guess I just got spoiled but it's a huge price difference! :)

I definitely agree that it's "Less than Stellar";). It seems to me that the free dining is a better deal, but three of our four kiddos are in school , we are kinda locked into certain times of the year to vaca. That being said we'll take whatever saving we can get!!! I just glad we are able to afford it this year again:woohoo:.

Lately it seems that Disney prices are out of step with a large portion of Americans income level. With a lot people either making the same or less than they were 7 years ago, Disneys prices have consistently been increasing. I know that despite both my wife and I being college educated, and professionally employed (my wife in the medical field), we have neither of us has seen a salary increase in YEARS!! It's the same for most of our friends. Not to mention that but our cost of living is up dramatically (especially healthcare).
Many of our middle class, and upper middle class friends feel Disney is out of reach now.

It's about $1000 cheaper for our family of 4 for S/P/D.

However, the trip I have been dreaming about and planning for an entire year is not happening this year b/c the deals came out so late and the flights that 2 weeks ago cost $2000 are now $4500 and no amount of changing our dates is giving me better prices. Lesson learned - book the flights when the prices are good and worry about booking the rest of the package later. I was so excited about this trip and now it's another whole year away.

eta: after more hours of searching I finally found decent flights - yay! Trip is booked.

When I looked at pricing a trip earlier I could get $3000 without dining or $4700 with dining. Today it was $2800 for a room only discount and S/P/D was $3600. Four of us can't eat for $800 for a 14 day trip so S/P/D ended up being worthwhile for us. Still not as cheap as previous trips we've been on with free dining (but also had one under 3 for all the previous trips so hard to compare outright).

Our dates are set so it's not feasible for us to change in order to get free dining SO, I'm thrilled with any discount I can get. $685 is not nothing!

Maybe I'm just doing something wrong? I don't know.... I agree with OP about Salaries not changing... I'm a paralegal and my DH is a foreman for a construction company... Definitely seems like the price is just getting higher and higher...

No, I bet you're not doing anything wrong. Comparing free dining ($0 for food) to Play/Stay/Dine (child pricing for food) isn't going to match.

Plus if you're looking at February, that month has many room rates that are among the higher/highest of the year, especially higher as compared to September or October.

If you "have" to visit in February due to school vacations, Play/Stay/Dine is good, in my opinion. But no, it's not going to be as cheap as other times/offers.

I booked this morning with the spd promo. The price was $500 more than I expected. I played around with figures earlier in the week and thought I would be close to actual price. I still saved alot but just not as much as I had planned.
