Anyone else worried about fall supplies?

We have plenty of TP and paper towels. I haven't been able to find disinfecting wipes since March.

I've noted Clorox wipes in the reserved for medical purchases at Amazon for awhile now. That didn't used to be the case.

Amazon still sells brand name disinfectant wipes to regular people, it's just hard to catch a listing because they usually disappear in less than a minute.

They also have sellers there that are asking about 25.00 for one canister of wipes (when you include the 12.99 shipping) so you really have to watch it.

Oh and what's really crazy is that one time, at the beginning of this pandemic, I was at WalMart checking on TP for a co-worker (back when we were still having to go into the office) and couldn't find it. I saw a line about a dozen people and was like, what's that for? They said disinfecting wipes. So, I'm like, sure, why not, I'll stand in that short line. And I was able to get a 3-pack of 35 wipes in each bottle. That's it

No wipes here--or disinfectant spray, for months. Hand sanitizer usually gone, too, although I already had a stash of that because I have always bought it for my classroom. Paper towels and TP are back in all stores here in Midwest/Great Lakes region.

I can say about the same things:

- I saw hand sanitizer at Walmart a few days ago, though I think we all know soap and water is better -- when available.
- I have two gallons of hand sanitizer because I, too, have always "bought ahead" for my classroom.
- Paper towels and toilet paper have not been a problem since the initial "run".

if/when you have access to sprays or wipe-here's how we've extended use:

at the end of the tub wipes (clorox/lysol) there's usually a decent puddle of disinfecting liquid sitting in the container-put it in a spray bottle to use as disinfecting spray. we also use the liquid (or actual disinfecting spray if we have it) if we can't find disinfecting wipes to turn tub 'cleaning' wipes-like for counters-(non disinfecting) INTO disinfecting (put liquid in, turn tub upside down so it drips through the wipes, roll around to distribute more). it may not be as effective as the true disinfecting wipes but every little bit helps.

Paper towels and toilet paper are still hit and miss here (not available at all really from delivery services) and you have to be very lucky for sanitizer or disinfectant spray/wipes.

I’m very fortunate as I can put convenience and ease over price so I was able to order a bunch of sanitizer from cosmetics companies when they started making it and some “natural” (it’s on the list of approved cleaners from fda) system where you make your own spray and don’t have to worry about waiting in line at the store and hoping there’s some left. Most of that is gone during senior shopping/ at risk hours as well unless you get super lucky!

Not worried. I always have supplies like the world is ending. That's what riding out a lot of hurricanes will do to a person.

Continuing to eliminate promotions or other incentives will help alleviate hoarding. It’s not price gouging if you simply start selling stuff at MSRP.

Also the extension of all sales final will help alleviate that as well.

Not worried, but will be prepared. I have been slowly stocking up each week. We also just ordered a small chest freezer to stock up on meats, etc.. We were planning to get one because we are now back to a household of five adults instead of three and just require more food each week.

We did have a hard time getting a number of things during the spring lockdown here in Massachusetts and that was when the middle part of the country was doing fine with cases. With cases rising all over the place, supply chains could be interrupted and things hard to get. Meat and poultry facilities tend to be particularly susceptible and have already had to shut down in numerous places.

I am just going to buy a few more things each week and set them aside for fall and winter. I figure it can’t hurt.

Only thing we are stocking up on is the flu shot. Once avail we are standing in line. Have a feeling there will be a an increase in demand.

We just got 2 PLY back in stock this past month. I was able to do a pick up order of 2 ply again at my Target. I am wondering where the chicken nuggets went. Finding chicken nuggets is like finding a needle in a hay stack. I am worried about stocking up on frozen foods this fall. I am worried we are going to end up with a bunch of power outages again.

Ditto. We were visiting SIL at the beginning of March, and found 2 packages of wipes in the store there. She bought one and we bought the other. And those were the last ones I've seen since then. We're really frugal with them (still have the one canister), but we're pretty much stay at home now. Only go out every other week to buy fresh food stuff.

Lysol is still hard to get. I use it for cleaning and have for decades. I will make sure I am stocked up but not ridiculously so. We usually just do our usual weekly shopping. For example, if we had just opened a new paper towel we will add paper towel to the list but not overbuy.

We still have about a half-pallet of the bathroom stall tp we got at Restaurant Depot when this all kicked off. Our 3 toilets don't like it much, but it's saved us a lot of headaches so we're good. Disinfectant wipes, oy. We've been using *very* watered down bleach to clean our surfaces. 1/2 cup to a gallon of water.

We were in good shape before this all started. We always buy ahead.
In the last month or so, between amazon and BJ , I manage to restock the TP, etc. I found enough wipes to share with neighbor and church.

So I now have enough toilet paper, etc for about 4 months if I buy nothing more. In a month and if it's on sale, I'll probably buy a little more. I don't have a room full of paper supplies, it's just the two of us.

But aside from the normal panty stuff, I am adding some canned items like beef stew, chili, tuna, just in case, meat issues occur again. I've also added an extra 10 pounds of flour . Everything is dated 18-24 months, so it will be used at some point

i think some people were unfairly portrayed as hoarders in the media. the screen shots of people coming out of costco with half a dozen of the 30 roll packs of toilet paper, multipacks of wipes and the large packs of paper towels may in reality have purchased what they normally would have purchased/consumed over a 6 month period of time. it looks like an insane amount that would last the average family for years but it's what we normaly see in our region when people do a winter stock up in early fall with plans to have it last until late spring.

yes-it caused a hit to supplies on shelves but likely many of those folks will be looking to try and replenish soon along with the annual poor weather preparing folks (who are doing it earlier here b/c they are fearful of lack of supplies come fall).

Well, let's hope they learned their lesson.

I will do a bit of stocking up before fall and I already have my list. Nothing crazy. Just a few items that I don't want to run out of. Some of it includes

TP
Paper Towels
Cleaning supplies
OTC meds like aspirin, allergy pills, and sinus pills
Chicken
Noodles (Asian)
Stock/Broth
Coconut Aminos (especially since my "normal" stores do not sell this)
Frozen veggies (broccoli for sure but also corn, peas, and a couple others for soup/fried rice)
Favorite frozen meals

I am sure I will think of more but that is what comes to mind now.

I’m guessing a lot of people have toilet paper for the next 5 years. As with other supplies I think people are a lot more ready. Everyone I know has a stockpile now.

I think the hoarders of toilet paper back in March have enough for the 3rd and 4th waves of Covid!

Nope. I've just got 178 days' supply, according to https://howmuchtoiletpaper.com Time for a trip to Wegmans.

I'm just wondering if I'll ever see disinfectant wipes again. People are still buying all of it as soon as it hits the shelves. Don't they have enough yet?

I just saw a tub of Lysol wipes on Amazon for about $13...plus $31 shipping.
