Just heard about the TTA refurb, and must say that I am totally ticked off. Do they really have to advertise Disney to people on a Disney ride??? Des anyone have more info on this subject?
:headache:

Not quite sure what you mean. They've ALWAYS "advertised Disney" on TTA. They always pointed out each attraction and talked about Space Mountain or Stitch or the arcade or whatever. It's been part of the ride since the ride first ran.

Not sure what has you so ticked off?

:earsboy:

Ah man! They were refurbishing it the last time we were there! What gives???

Maybe the OP is talking about when it was refurb'ed a couple of years ago?

I've watched a video on Youtube and basically after the refurb the narrator/spiel is totally different so no more "Paging Mr. Tom Morrow" or "Now entering Mickey's Star Traders". You can't see Space Mountain anymore. You can just hear the ride and there is different lighting. It is sad and personally I'm not thrilled that they changed it either but oh well. There is nothing we can do now.

Truthfully, I can't tell the difference between the speils, the refurb was back in 2009. There is no advertising...they talk about all the different rides, but from what I can tell they always did that. I suppose your right, they don't say..."Paging Mr. Tom Morrow" anymore...but does that "ruin" it? :confused3 Maybe for some.

They DID change the view inside Space Mountain. You still see the lift hill with the upside down astronauts. You don't look down at the queue area, which makes sense because they covered the queue area, and you can't really see the ride anymore either, partly because it is so dark in there now. (The big change to SM was it is much darker because you can't see the queue area from the ride, either.)

I rode it yesterday and it didn't seem all that different to me. Space Mountain was down at the time and we got to see it with the lights on! So, I can say for sure you see a lot of Space Mountain on the ride! Maybe when it is dark it might seem like you don't go through there, but you do!

To your casual TTA rider, maybe it doesn't make that much of a difference but As someone who rode the TTA numerous times a day when in the MK and has had the spiel practically memorized for years, it IS all that different. I can see why the OP is disappointed. It does not have that same nostalgic, sentimental feelings for me as it has in the past. :(

Things change... nothing in this world will always stay the same...

They changed Space Mountain which would have an obvious impact on TTA. They changed the spiel as you go around, but really the only part I miss is Mr. Tom Marrow.

Remember... "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow..."

If everything always stayed as it was, we would never see anything new.

Dang it, why am I so philosophical tonight? :hippie:

well there is a new following for TTA - my two youngest have fallen in love w/ it and we must ride it every time we visit MK. Of course they have no idea there was a rehab; they enjoy every minute of it as it is. And i didn't see too many complaining last night when there was a huge queue for this attraction~~

paging Mr Morrow, Mr Tom Morrow has been gone for sometime now. I use to have a seasonal pass and let it expire June 2008 (I did just get an annual a few weeks ago ;)) and that spel was gone before my pass expired.

I am sorry they changed the wording too, but it still goes through SM and it has ALWAYS been a sort of "advertisement" for the TL attractions. We rode it a couple of weeks ago.

The usual Tom Morrow spiel should have remained intact until April 2009, when TTA closed to coincide with the SM refurb. I believe it may have also still been in place for a couple weeks after it reopened, but in early October the whole spiel changed.

As for not seeing Space Mountain, a lot of that had to do with the internal changes to the queue area. I haven't been on it since the refurb, but I have not heard about not being able to see anything at all...

What PP said is true - it appears you can't see anything anymore...but it more because of how dark the ride is...if you ride when the ride is down, you can still very much see the coaster.

I understand that, but apparently the OP hasn't even heard the new version:

Some people just don't like change. I hope when the OP does ride TTA, it won't be as bad as they think.

Actually, the new spiel is very similar to the ORAC - 1 spiel from the 80s - early 90s. The '95 Tomorrowland version was well themed and very cute, but Tomorrowland has changed and so they changed the TTA spiel to reflect that. It has always been a tour that pointed out different attractions/shops. This isn't the first change for the TTA nor will it be the last and for those of us who went to WDW in the 80s, it is rather nostalgic.

You scared me for a minute as I thought TTA was being refurbed again during our stay. I don't care for the new audio either but not the end of the world :goodvibes
