I just thought of another one: Emerson, Lake & Palmer! Remember listening to brain salad surgery thru headphones??!!

Boston
Saturday Night Fever
Bruce Springstein
45's and 8 tracks, oh my I am getting old! :scared1:

I have to say that clubing in the early 80"s was the best. Loved that dance music.

I recognize all those albums listed by the OP. What makes me feel really old is when my DD hears them on the local OLDIES station. When did I get to be an "oldie"? :confused3

And Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water. I'm surprised we're all not deaf! :rockband:

In addition to music, I also used to listen to Richard Pryor, Monty Python, Bill Cosby and George Carlin :teeth:

Remember this one (We would turn the lights off and I would sing using a spoon as a microphone and my sister would swirl a flashlight around in circles at me... the solid gold dancers were our idols...) :rotfl2:

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Along the same lines what about those little yellow plastic things for the middle of 45's so they would fit on the turntable. I know most turntables came with one but it always got lost! lol Did you ever lose them all and still try to play the 45? :rotfl:

Myst

We brought a bunch of albums up from the basement (yes, vinyl albums). I cannot believe some of these were 30 years old or more: :earseek:

Eagles Greatest hits
Rod Steward greatest hits
Starship Gold
Neil Diamond's Greatest hits
Fleetwood Mac
Michael Jackson - Thriller

Remember the original soundtrack from Grease with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John?

How about the best of Bread? Peter Frampton, Bob Dylan at Budokan,
The Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Beatles. Cat Stevens (I was so in love with him when I was in high school).

So what music from your past makes you realize you are getting old?

You old fart!!! :earboy2: ;)

:rotfl:

How about Little Richard? :cool1: My first LP, 1957..............

1 Tutti-Frutti
2 True
3 Fine Mama
4 Can't Believe You Wanna Leave
5 Ready Teddy
6 Baby
7 Slippin' And Slidin'
8 Long Tall Sally
9 Miss Ann
10 Oh Why
11 Rip It Up
12 Jenny Jenny
13 She's Got It

How about Kansas and Chicago, Journey, REO SpeedWagon, CheapTrick, I remember being a Junior in H.S. in 1978 and being disappointed with the new Fleetwood Mac Album.

I thought it was so cool when my boyfriend (Now husband) had a 8 track tape player and then he put in a cassette player in his 1970 Chevy Chevelle.

The soundtrack to "Jesus Christ Superstar"
I remember my friend and I went to see this move over 30 times we went everynight and 2 times on sat and sun.
I lived on a army base in Canada and If I remember right it was .25 during the day to get in and .50 at night
WE played that album over and over WE were so in love with
Ted Nealy(not sure if spelling is right)
I don't know how to love him
I could go on and on

Ohhh, I loved ELP. Used to lay on the floor between the speakers andlisten to a whole album side.

You know there are just some albums I can't listen to just one song, it has be the whole album side.

Just thought of two more favorites:

Credence Clearwater Revival
Three Dog Night

Oh I love CCR. I think it's a sign of getting old when you hear the stuff you like on the oldies station. :rotfl: I'll still take classic rock from the 60's,70's and maybe early 80's over anything being played today. :)

And don't forget The Motor City! That great "Wall" of sound! .....ain't to proud to beg, sweet darlin....... :goodvibes
