Anyone else think we will see mass cancellations once the COVID cancellation policy lifts at the end of April?

I feel like some people are planning trips they aren't really going on with the comfort of being able to cancel up to nearly the last minute. I'm guessing as their 30 day window approaches post April 30th a lot of rooms will open up. Just a theory that I could be very wrong about.

I do not think we will see any more or less cancellations but definitely see the movement now closer to 31 days out vs. a week or two.

People have gotten used to the new policy so it definitely is going to be an adjustment.

You mean that May will suddenly have a lot of openings? The rest of the year still has up until 31 days prior to check in following the normal rule.

Im one of these people! Have a mid May trip booked and just can’t make up my mind whether I’m comfortable going or not. I’m waiting until the last week of April and then a one bedroom at riviera might magically come available for some lucky waitlister.

I was referring to the ability cancel right up until the last minute with points going back to the original use year, not put into holding. The "Covid policy" ends May 1st and it goes back to the standard policy we are use to.

It does, but the standard holding policy will still allow cancellations without penalty if done at least 31 days in advance of check-In. So the end of the "Covid policy" really only effects May reservations because those are the only ones less than 31 days away.

Ah I see what he was trying to say.

Yep! We'll just be back to the 31 day cancellation window vs 1 day. I imagine some might be considering the other part of borrowed points going back but it's probably not going to cause en masse cancellations of say August or October trips.

I'm hoping for some June trips though to get my wait-list. Although we will be fine where we are if not.

I’ve been checking availability for mid May constantly and so far there hasn’t been mass cancellations for may due to this policy ending in a few days. We will see if people start canceling once we’re down to the wire!

I think it will be worth watching summer too. While outside the 31 day window, the rule to not return borrowed points might play a role in canceling for those with June, Aug and Sept UYs.

Availability has been changing constantly since WDW reopened, it's bananas. I booked April last minute on just cancellations. Put holding back in, and yea, I think this is going to thin out.

However, October has not budged.
