Anyone else think Pizza Hut Pizza has gone downhill?

We used to belong to the Pizza Hut VIP club so we were ordering from them alot. Well, they no longer have the club so we weren't ordering from them as much. We started getting more Papa John's and Donato's, but would get PH when they had interesting specials. Well, we tried their Mio pizzas and they were just awful! Everything tasted cheap, cheap, cheap. We haven't been back.

Here is a story that might turn you off the Hut. While my husband was layed off I decided to get a second job there. I was there only a week. They were very anal retentive about toppings. I kid you not, they measured how far apart the pepperonis had to be to show me. They would say; "Those are too close, use the ruler if you have too." A woman told me that a few yrs ago they used to be able to just guestimate using the addage "If it looks like what you would expect your correct." Also, I have worked in kitchens most my working life and know what the health department expects. Here are some violations I saw.
No sanitizer being used
No gloves
People not washing hands
Dirty pans being USED :scared1:
The biggy that was the last straw for me was the fact that they did not have a seperate sink to wash and prep food. There was only one sink in the back. It was used for washing pans and hands. Yes, no hand sink!:scared1:
The dish room looked as if it had never seen a rag and sanitizer. There was bits of food in the sink that I assume had been there days. A woman filled the sink w/ water and washed the veggies for the salad bar in it!!!:scared1:
Also we were not allowed to have a wet rag on the side to wash the make table periodically.During my shifts the table was only washed at the end of the shift. They used degreaser to clean everything, even though it says on the bottle it is not to be used for that sort of thing.
I was so disgusted that I called the next morning and said I was done. Two weeks later I called the health dept. People can die from those habbits!

Ewww. I sure hope it's not like this in all Pizza Huts. Though all the stores look the same. I'm sure it has to do with management.

When did Papa John's get so expensive too. 2 pizza's last nite and my bill was $29.99. I remember when you could get 2 pizza's for $15. Guess we haven't ordered pizza in awhile.

I am boycotting PH. They have terrible customer service and even after trying to get a response higher up the ladder, I was ignored. It was ridiculous. Now when we order, we order from Domino's. I really like their pizza and the buffalo chicken kickers with the hot sauce....

We just ordered from there last night and definitely noticed the sweeter sauce. It's also very runny. We had it with breadsticks and thought something was wrong with it at first because it looked like red water-not sauce.

Dunno about Pizza Hut, but Art Vandalay's Pizza Palace is still my favorite :)

I would never go there again, I found a hair in my pie:eek:

Not wild about any of the chains, mostly detest Pizza Hut:scared: I do have to ask...what is that friggin green thing that Papa John's insists on throwing on top of the pizza?:headache:

Ya but it was such a tiny hill.

Mikeeee

Thank goodness I live in NE New Jersey, and don't have to get pizza from chain restaurants! Our Pizza Hut just closed down, Papa John's lasted less than a year, but Domino's is still in business (my kids LOVE Domino's - doesn't taste at all like pizza, so I can't eat it).

Papa Johns- Hate it. I had it once here at work and the sauce was way to sweet for me. I thought maybe it was just the pizza we got, but from the other posts it sounds like this is the norm for them.

Pizza Hut- I like them, all though I haven't gotten a pizza from them in about 6 months or more. It's always good for a thicker crust. I really hope our local one didn't change the sauce and make it sweeter. If that is the case I won't be getting there's anymore and I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm in the mood for a thicker crust (aside from making my own). We don't have a Dominos around.

Thankfully, I live in CT and work in New Haven. I drive by Pepe's and Sallys on my way to the highway, so I can always stop there for some excellent pizza when I'm in the mood for a thinner crust. Around where we live there is nothing but independant pizza shops. Seems like there is one on every corner. :rotfl:

Same here - do you have as many nail salons as pizzarias like we do in NJ? :rotfl2:

Yea....rub it in.:lmao:

You know we do have local pizzerias. I should check them out.

As a New Yorker (near the city), I FEEL for everyone that has to even think about Pizza Hut for pizza.

Honestly, I feel bad for folks that have not had real pizza from your corner shop..

I agree. I can't stand Domino's, Pizza Hut and all the other chains. Blech. When we want pizza, we either get delivery from a local mom/pop shop that is pretty darn good, or we head out to John's Brick oven (not the travesty in Times Square but the original one on Bleecker) or Lombardi's in Little Italy. Or even Nick's in our neighborhood which sort of spun off from John's years ago.

ETA: I feel for anyone who has no other choices! I really do! Pizza is one of my favorite food groups.

If I push "3" could I get a decent, hairless pie?:confused3

I used to like Pizza Hut as a kid/teen - in our neck of Virginia Beach, there were no real pizzarias, and PH was way superior to Domino's or Chanellos. I loved the tangy sauce they used at PH. I despise a sweet sauce - makes me gag. Darn neighbor kids asked me to buy Ledo pizza for them once when I was watching them (their mom's a nurse and was called in for an emergency) and it was as nasty as the HIDEOUS Papa John's garbage the hillbillies love so much. Dang nasty sweet sauce - if I wanted sweet sauce, I'll dump a sugar packet on my own slice, OK?

So glad I have a good pizzaria in town - Three Brothers.

We haven't been to PH in years! DH and I went w/ friends one night. All four of us got sick. As in, food poisoning sick. We tried a different PH several years later because dd had a free personal pizza coupon (from bookit). We ended up sick again, including dd. That was it for us.

Hardly any PH locations around here anymore, in fact, I can't think of 1! They really went downhill and have been gone for years.:confused3
