Anyone else think Cars 2 is violent?!?

It was about Doc. The movie DID NOT say that he died. They did indicate that he passed on. Paul Newman, who was the voice of Doc in the original Cars movie, passed away in 2008. Disney did not want to leave him out of the 2nd movie completely and wanted to pay tribute to his memory. Disney chose to remember him without saying that he died. They did not want to disrespect his talent for the first movie by replacing him with somebody else.

Source: I read it in my husband's car magazine

No, that was handled fine. The car dying at the beginning of the movie was run off of the platform in the ocean and then comes up in pieces.

We took our 7 year old and 4 year old and all of us loved it - the "violence" never even crossed my mind! The plot was easy for all of us to grasp and we loved the action!

I loved the original for it's charm...I loved this one for it's action. I am TOTALLY glad they went in a completely different direction with this one.

We would go see it again in a heartbeat!

Yes. The pieces that floated to the top were a decoy.

You are correct.... makes me wonder if some of the people complaining even watched the movie??!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

and as for the boy who says he did not know cars could die...
I have had cars die on me IRL but never had one talk!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I have been reading how suprised people have been with how violent they feel the movie was and how Pixar had never done something like this before, my question is has everyone forgotten the Incredibles? The Incredibles had alot more gun fire, explosions and death. And in that movie, they were actual human characters that were getting shot at and getting blown up, not cars. They also said kill them and even showed dead human remains, but I am not hearing anyone complain about it.

Now I have no problem with either movie, neither were any worse than any cartoon on tv. I think that alot of people are using the violence as reason to not like the movie. It was a James Bond type spy movie and they are not for everyone. I think alot of people dod not know going into the movie that it was going to be different than the first and caught them off guard. Not everyone is going to like every movie, and that is okay, but if you are going to complain about the violence in this movie, you must include the ones that came before it.

I did not find it too violent at all, they are cars. But then again as others have said I grew up watching Looney Toons, I really didn't want Wiley to eat Road Runner but I did want him to come out on top just once and not get blown up, fall of a cliff, or hit by an anvil, or both. I did find it to be sort of boring, it is not one of my favorite Pixar movies that is for sure. If I had it to do over I would not spend the money to see it at the theater.

Too true. And the fiery furnace scene in the last toystory film! That was terrible!

This was our take. My kids loved it and I could sit through it without checking my watch every five minutes (actually this one wasn't just bearable for me I actually liked it...cars meet James Bond type stuff...two of my favorite things). It was different from the first Cars and I liked that. I wouldn't have wanted the same story rehashed even though I really liked the first one. Admittedly though, my kids are 9 & 11 so they had no problems with the plot or separating talking cartoon cars from reality.

It didn't bother me... I had so many people tell me before we went "don't take your kids, it's so violent, it will ruin them for life." Seriously? That's a bit dramatic! We've seen it twice already (in the regular theater and then I happened to have free passes to the drive-in so we went again).
