Anyone else thing Cinderellabration was BORING??

Loved Cinderella's Surprise Celebration show! Sure, it was a bit "hokey" but it was SO Disney! Loved the use of so many characters, the "plot", the good vs bad, and build to the cute ending.

So, I wasn't really sure what to expect from Cinderellabration, but was prepared to love it just as much.

WRONG!

It was so sappy and boring. DH and I kept waiting for the "plot". We thought for sure someone was going to show up any minute and steal the crown (I figured it would be Stitch ). I love the Princesses, and have 2 daughters that love them, but even they thought it was boring.

I was really miffed that we wasted our time on this. Even the song and dance didn't seem to appeal to the crowd. They could have just brought the characters out for a photo op on the stage and had the same effect.

And with the Surprise Celebration, some of the characters would come out for meet and greet afterwards--makes the princesses seem stuck up that they didn't come out and meet their fans

I hope this show goes away with the end of the Celebration, and they either bring back the Surprise show, or come up with a new and better, interesting show!

We love CSC, but Cinderellabration is certainly not our cup of tea. I hope the rumors that Cindrellabration may be staying indefinitely are not true

Saw it once and most should agree the show is aimed at little girls 4-11 years old, I'm not saying others wouldn't enjoy it but young girls would probably enjoy it most.

I LOVE Cinderellabration!!!!! Of course, I AM biased because my DD is in the show. Believe me, it is REALLY painful to read these constant criticisms!! DD and ALL the Cinderellabration CMs work soooooooo hard to present entertainment that the guests will enjoy. You have absolutely NO IDEA how many hours these kids work to try and bring a smile to your face!! Many of these CMs read the DIS and other Disney Boards and it makes them feel terrible to see these ''put downs." Of course, Cinderellabration will not be everyone's 'cup of tea'--not everyone liked CSC or KoK either. As we all know, it is impossible to please everyone--but couldn't we have some postive, uplifting posts for a change? I'm sure the CMs would appreciate it!!

The Princesses definitely are NOT stuck up!! It would be impossible for them to come out for a Meet and Greet after the show--there is only one hour between the performances. During that hour, the cast has things which they are required to do to prepare for the next presentation. After the 11:40am show, they have lunch and then they prepare and perform in the afternoon parade!! In many instances this requires complete costume, make-up and wig changes! After the parade, it's back to the show! Besides the time problem, there is also the issue of creating 'magic'--in other words scheduling--where characters will be and when they will be there. After all, there is only ONE Mickey, and only ONE Cinderella--right??!!

I have restrained myself from posting about this for a long time--but I've finally had it!! Go ahead and flame me--I don't care!! But I do care about the way these negative comments hurt my DD and all of the Cinderellabration CMs!

I think you're right Mary Jo! I only wish I could have seen it from a better spot - I was quite far away. It would have been great to see it at night. I thought the music was a bit strange (the song near the end when the characters dance around in a ring was really annoying) but overall it was a fun show.

I totally agree with you Mary Jo. No one knows them better then you. They are some of the nicest people ever. Come on people- give them a break. They work so hard trying to put on a show for you. They do NOT need critics right now. As for it ending, no one knows for sure. So please. If you don't like the show, that's fine. Just don't watch next time. But keep it to yourself.

I don't think that anyone said that your daughter didn't do a great job. The people that don't like the show are talking about the writing of the script and music.
I hope that your daughter could read these boards and understand that.Maybe the imagineers also read these boards and can see that they missed the mark with this show.

The criticism of Cinderellabration has been spontaneous and plentiful, here and on other discussion boards.
It keeps coming up with new posters, over and over.

That can only mean there IS SOMETHING OBVIOUSLY WRONG WITH IT.

But I have yet to see anyone say, "The cast was flat." Or, "No one could dance."

Nope, its the SHOW (or lack thereof)!

Shakespeare said, "The play's the thing..."

Which has come to mean in theatrical terms that if the "play" (the script, music, production values) is not good, then no amount of acting skills can overcome that deficit and save the show.

This is a sub-par (and that's being kind) Disney show.

And let's be frank, the "Castle Shows" have always been the least-fully-produced shows on Disney property.
They were simply "characters wiggling to a soundtrack".
Fun to look at, but not nearly as substantial as:

Festival of the Lion King
Beauty and the Beast On Stage
Fantasmic!
IllumiNations
Hunchback of Notre Dame
All the parades
even Tarzan Rocks! (cough)

BUT...
Cinderellabration is the lowest ebb of a Castle Show I've seen at WDW.
No plot, no humor, no heart, no villains...

It is, by Disney's own admission, a pared-down ("watered-down"?) version of a MUCH BETTER show that is produced at Tokyo Disneyland.
They didn't even care enough to give WDW a complete show.
I can only guess that they tried to take a FULL QUALITY show from another park and "shrink it down" to fit the lower budget alloted for a "Castle Show".
But that didn't stop them from offering it up (with PLENTY of AD budget $$) as a "Special 50th Celebration Attraction".
Walt always said to "UNDER-promise, and OVER-deliver".
That's why Cinderellabration is such a BIG disappointment in the quality I expect from Disney.

So let's hope the talented performers (and other production folks) who have been struggling to make this "hollow shell" into a "show" are given something better to work with in a few months.

Even DH commented on what a wonderful show it was, and he has seen a lot of stage shows all over the world. My DD6 loved it and we thought the music was great, the costumes beautiful, and the dancing was outstanding. I was sorry it didn't last longer

Of course I never saw the surprise celebration so have no basis for comparison, but I hope they keep Cinderellabration!!

I thought Cinderellabration was beautiful! It was sweet, and I felt, was a great continuation of the Cinderella movie. The Duke & the King were so much like the movie, I laughed out loud! I just hated that my kids weren't with me to see it. (I was at WDW for a convention & snuck away for some park time). We're going in October, & I hope it is still there so they can see it.

We've seen CSC twice & loved it too, so I'm in no way saying one is superior to the other. And I loved seeing the faces of the little girls at Cinderellabration. They were totally enthralled by the princesses. It was so sweet.

I think the plot is very bouring. However, the costumes, music and dance are pretty spectacular. Very well done in that respect.

I personally didn't care for it. We needed something to do while we sat and ate our ice cream and Cinderellabration was it, but we would never go back to see it again. I loved seeing the princesses with their princes, but I can do that at Fantasmic.

Robo said it all beautifully! I agree with all that was said in that post. Unfortunately, I didn't see any of the negative comments about Cinderellabration before I went. If I had then I would have most likely skipped it--or at least not made sure to get there 20 minutes early to get a good seat. We had a choice of spending our time at that show or Toontown (which my girls love). We all were so disappointed that we spent the time there and didn't have a chance to get to Toontown.

I absolutely had nothing against the performers who did a wonderful job with what they were given. But I truly believe that Disney did a terrible job with the script and music. Even as we walked away I couldn't have told you any of the music/songs that we had just heard. I am fully aware that Disney makes all the decisions regarding the shows and character appearances. I don't lay any blame for that on the performers.

When I said that it made the princesses appear "stuck up" I was talking about the CHARACTERS--not the performers. I was also somewhat joking--thus the included in the comment! But that would have been a wonderful opportunity for the princesses to make an appearance for the fans (in "regular" costumes). It is all a matter of staffing, and how Disney chooses to spend its money. In my opinion they are just wasting their money with this performance.

I love the princesses but I also thought this one was boring. We've never made it all the way through, my 6 year old is in love with it but something has always had to make us leave half way through and i'm sad to say I wasn't upset to leave.

I have to admit that I didn't "sit and watch" all of it. I did catch the whole show though as I walked around the park and occasionally stopped to watch.

I thought it was Beautiful! What little girl doesn't dream of being a princess (even farm-girl, tomboy me did at times!). I just don't think the "story" would have been the same if there had been a villian. It is Cinderallas Coronation! Would you want a villian at your wedding? I really believe that the story is as it should be ...... a perfect crowning of a perfect princess. NO jokes and no bad guys to ruin it. I also loved it....as a 30something princess wannabe!

I thought it was less than exciting, shall we say. But the performers were great! It's just that the show itself is lackluster. The costumes and the dancing were wonderful, and my little ones loved it.

Mary Jo, you can let your DD know that my 4 year old niece absolutely LOVED Cinderellabration last month and insisted on seeing it twice. I think it was truly the highlight of the trip for her.

Ok. Now I know that Cinderellabration isn't as "big" as Tokyo's version, or has as many characters as CSC. But these people put in a LOT of hard work and effort trying to put on a show for people to enjoy. They didn't write the story- they're just performing it. So please. If you don't like the show, either don't watch it or just keep it to yourself.

We haven't seen it yet and will probably watch it when we go in Sept and form our own opinion and I may even (GASP) make my opinion known to others (whether its good or bad). I'm not trying to be nasty or rude here, But honestly to tell someone to keep their opinion to theirselves???? The title of the OP post should have alerted those who didn't want negative criticism of the show to not read the post. Everyone has the RIGHT to have and state their own opinion even if they don't match those of others (wow, what a concept) just as you have the right disagree with others opinions. And not everyone is going to like everything. Believe it or not, that is okay!! Thats the same with resorts, food, rides, etc..Thats why people comment and give the reviews, to give people their opinion that a particular attraction or something else may not be up to par. I didn't see anyone saying anything nasty about the show, just that they didn't particularly care for it, is that a crime??? SOrry, Off my soapbox now...
