I still only have 1 ps made. Our trip is in may. My plan on paper has us hopping all over the place to eat. I usually correspond eating according to what park were in. Do we try some new places and hop or limit it to the park were in?? pirate:

Leaving and coming back takes a lot of time. (especially if you use Disney transportation. If it's for a really special meal, then maybe, but most of the time I think you are better off eating in the park you are touring.

I agree that it is better to avoid eating outside the areas you plan to be. I have found that it is much easier to plan your meals around what park you will be in. For the MK it is really easy to get to the CR, Poly, GF, WL & FW. We love to eat at the Kona so we do this either before or after, or maybe during a break, from the MK. The boardwalk area has a lot of great places to eat. Getting there from either Epcot or the Studios is really easy by either walking or the Friendship boats.
You can waste a lot of time trying to get to meals far away from your theme park for the day.

Leaving for meals definately takes a big chunk of time out of the day.

We usually make the ps's at our favorite restaurants for the parks we are going to be visiting on any certain day. If we want to eat at a resort restaurant we go to the closest for the park we are visiting that day.

We have so many favorites so we can usually make this work fairly easily.

I agree with the others. We did this once - went and ate at Artist's Point when they still had the character meal and we were at MK for early entry. Left there about 10 for an 11 PS and it took us 45 min just to get to Wilderness Lodge and that was with their own bus!!!!! Then we went back MK and it took another 45 min just to get back. The buses just weren't running in a plentiful amount and this was during the week before Christmas when there were more people around.

After many trips to WDW, we no longer spend an entire day in one park. So, what we do is this...get to our first park early. If it's an EMH morning, we usually try to get a breakfast PS for around 10 or so (if we are planning on doing breakfast). Then we usually leave after breakfast and go back to our resort for a bit and swim. If we haven't done breakfast there, we might book an early lunch at that park but leave right after for our mid-day break.

Sometimes we don't have a breakfast or early lunch planned. What we do then is to do our morning park, leave at noonish, relax at our resort for a few hours and go to the park we have chosen for the rest of the day and have late lunch or early dinner there.

This works well for us since we know what it is that we really want to do, and what we don't care about. Our trips have become much more relaxed now and eating is more of a pleasure.....we actually take the time to sit and enjoy our meal, rather than plan where we are going next.

to dine near the park we're visiting OR near the resort where we're staying so we won't have to spend too much time in transit. For instance, on our MK day we usually pick a restaurant on the monorail line. For Epcot day, a world showcase restaurant.
