Just wondering if I'm abnormal....well, in this aspect anyway!;)

I've let my mom borrow my van a few times over the last few weeks since her parents were visiting. It's really the only vehicle that Gma can get in and out of easily and her wheelchair fits nicely in the back area. They borrowed it to get to the airport in Nashville this morning and my sis went with them...leaving her car at my mom's WITHOUT any keys. That left me with no car. My brother has a car there, so mom and sis told me if I needed anything to ask him.

Now, I love letting my family borrow the van when needed and have never had a problem with it. But my sister has never offered to leave her car with anyone....even for just in case. DH is leaving work early today to pick up the kids....but wouldn't have to if sis had just left her car with me....but she never even offered it.

Am I being too weird?

NO!! I feel exactly the same way as you! And you are not being selfish!

I don't think you should loan your car out to anyone unless they are willing to let you use theirs at the same time. It puts way too much inconvience on someone to make them go without a car.

I agree Keli. But my mom had no choice. She only had one car to leave, so she left that with my brother at their house. He's got a Dr's appt today.

They drove here in my sister's car and picked up the van to take to Mom's house and load up. Then I notice sis is driving her car away too. I called my brother later and he said it's there and she didn't leave any keys.

She also didn't want to volunteer to drive it next weekend when we go to Nashville. I could only take our older Explorer....gas guzzler. Mom has no extra car to take away. I mentioned how much $ we'd save by taking her smaller car...she doesn't want so many miles on it.... And my mom doesn't speak up at all. It's so frustrating.

Is it possible that it didn't occur to your sister to leave the keys for you?

It would be if it didn't happen more frequently....not just to me but anytime we're all going somewhere. She and BIL rarely offer to drive and never leave their keys behind. One time my dad couldn't get out around BIL's car and he was SO mad. After that, they just started parking in the street.
