Anyone else still waiting on their W-2s?

I'm always amazed when people start posting about their refunds. It always takes us until into February to get all our info.

Same here. Every year we file in February and get our refunds back in March.

As someone that used to do payroll for years at a public accounting firm, trust me, year end payroll is a bear. There are literally 4 times as many forms to fill out, and W-2's usually have to be done last after all the other withholding forms are filed and reconciled.

I know it's hard waiting for the W-2's, but believe me, payroll departments are not getting them done the first week in January and just sitting on them. (Most anyway) It really is an awful process.

ETA: For the record, my DH got his W-2's on Friday, but I'm still waiting for mine.
:worship::worship: Patience People! Gheesh, I am the Accounting Manager and I have been working 6 days a week since the first of January getting all the end of the year documents in order.

 Perhaps if you all planned your withholdings a bit better you would not be chomping at the bit for your refunds  calm down, I am being sarcastic, I am an overworked Accounting Manager surrounded by a bunch of impatient employees.

I understand your sarcasm...truely I do. And I do understand that you are stressed and overworked right now. :flower3:

BUT. Please understand... my DH and I DID plan our withholdings. We under-withhold on purpose because we LIKE the big refunds. We enjoy having that sudden windfall to go buy a new fridge (I already have it picked out) or plan a vacation. If we just get an extra hundred a month or so, we wouldn't do any of those things... it would get eaten up in day to day expenses. So, we under-withhold on purpose and look forward to receiving our "fun money" each spring.

Just doing my part to "stimulate the economy"... that is all.

Thanks for all your hard work!

QFT..

I have a list of stuff I need/want to do with our big refund. We usually get a decent refund , but this year it is 2-3 times of a refund we usually get. After the sucky year we had last year we could really use that extra money right now to pay off the rest of our old debt, put money back into our almost spent out emergency fund, and have money left over for some mad money shopping. lol

Still waiting on my W2, but it was easy to calculate based on my last paycheck. I'm also still waiting on a 1099 from a brokerage company. The worst, however, will be the wait for a K-1 from a master limited partnership I was part of. I don't think that the IRS even finalized the form until a couple of weeks ago. I may just file without it and then file an amended return later.

I handle to W-2's for my company. Before they could be printed and sent I had to tie all my quaterly reports to the year end reports and then to the W-3 (totals of the W-2s).

We use an outside payroll processing company and I authorized the release late last week. Employees are receiving them now.

My pet peeve is employees who wait until the last minute to tell me they moved. I have several employees who called me after I authorized the W-2's. Sorry but they will have to wait until I receive them back in the mail and I can forward to the new address.

I just got mine today. DH got his a couple weeks ago.

Looks like I have a hot date with TurboTax tonight!

Aaaargh...I got my W-2 today, but I think it is wrong. The amounts tie out with what I expected, but they list the HSA contributions in Box 12 with Code R (which is for MSAs) instead of Code W (which is for HSAs). Maybe they have some bizarro reason for doing that (I'm no expert on tax law), but I've got a strong suspicion that it is a mistake.

I don't have mine yet, but I'm in no hurry (since I always end up having to pay!!!). But I do know that the lady at our office who has to do W-2's is working around the clock to get them done. I feel for her.

I have employees who just torture me for these things, we have them on the last day. My payroll company takes care of it. One guy just goes on and on about why it takes so long. Every year. We do people want them so badly? It's not wise to under pay and get a refund but so many people do. I file the last day, sometimes file for an extension.
