Anyone Else Still Voting for Ron Paul?

You mean for POTUS?!?!

Ron Paul is my Congressman. I didn't even vote for him in that position. So my answer is, um, NO. :rolleyes1

Gee, is it always this freakin' crazy around here at election time?

I can almost taste the venom people are spitting at their keyboards. ROFL!

Yes, Aprille, for President. I wasn't even aware he was up for re-election in TX. He probably isn't...you were just adding that for emphasis, right? Insult to injury and all. Hee hee!

I think Ron Paul is completely correct on a lot of issues, but he doesn't have the other criteria that people like in a president (charisma, speaking presence, etc.).

I didn't enjoy the lack of respect he received from the other candidates during the Republican debates...ironic since he represents a lot of the classic ideals that most Republicans have lost these days

He is not on the ballot for POTUS, as he is a registered Republican. He would have to change his party affiliation to Independent to run, and he himself stated just a few days ago that this was not an option for him.

Once he dropped out of the running for president, he funnelled his presidential campaign funds back into his congressional election campaign and he won it handily.

Ron Paul would have had my vote except for his views on the war. Other than that, he has some great ideas...

My older son really liked him in the primary. I'm not sure if he is going to vote for him in the general election, though. We haven't had a chance to talk politics in a few weeks, but last time we did, he had reservations about "wasting" his vote.

Ron Paul recently declined to endorse McCain.

Instead, he recommends supporting the third party candidates.

Fellow Republican Paul refuses to endorse McCain

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul urged voters on Wednesday to support third-party candidates and said he had turned down a request to endorse John McCain, his party's nominee.

At a news conference with Ralph Nader and other third-party presidential candidates spanning the political spectrum, Paul said voters in the November 4 election should look beyond "the lesser of two evils" -- McCain and Democratic nominee Barack Obama.

But Paul's effort to sound a note of unity among candidates outside the mainstream was undermined by Libertarian nominee Bob Barr, who refused to appear at the event.

"I'm not interested in third parties getting the most possible votes. I'm interested in Bob Barr as the nominee for the Libertarian Party getting the most possible votes," Barr said at a separate news conference in the same building less than an hour after Paul's event.

Paul, a Texas congressman who once ran as the Libertarian presidential candidate, drew millions of votes this year and raised a surprising $35 million in the Republican primary race but failed to win any of the state-by-state nominating contests.

He dropped out of the race in June and continued to cultivate his ardent following. He drew 10,000 people to a rally in Minneapolis last week as Republicans met in nearby St. Paul to officially nominate McCain.

He is running for re-election to Congress as a Republican.

Gee, I see you're fairly new to the DIS. Yes, it does always get this freakin' crazy around here at election time.

Excuse my venom. Those of us who live in Congressman Paul's district are dealing with the landfall of Hurricane Ike at the moment. Tends to make one a bit cranky. :rolleyes1

Ron Paul was up for re-election to his congressional seat during the primaries so, no, I was not adding it for emphasis. And, as has been reported, he won handily, without my vote.

I'm a conservative. I agree with Paul on some issues but on others he is just way too far removed from my views to even vote for him for Congressman, much less President. Sorry if I was snarky, I was just attempting to answer your original question.

Disclaimer: I am NOT insinuating that Ron Paul had anything to do with Hurricane Ike hitting his district! :p ;)

Carry on. I'm sure we are about to lose power here any moment so I won't get to play anymore for awhile...

I wasn't planning to anyhow but I really did enjoy watching him in the Repub primaries. He does march to the beat of his own drummer, doesn't he? :) He livened things up!

My husband is still going to vote for him. Write him in. Apparently, a lot of his friends are going to do the same?? How does that work?? I was looking at Ron Paul and Bob Barr since I honestly can't handle the idea of Sarah Palin being President if anything happened to McCain. I think she's generally okay and I don't disagree with MOST of her political views (I do with some), but I just don't think she's prepared whatsoever to be President. And no I wouldn't have been happy with Dan Quayle as President either, lol, but I didn't vote for Bush I.:rotfl: But now I'm starting to have guilt feelings about splitting the vote against Barack Obama. If too many people vote for third parties and not McCain, Obama will win, and he is my least favorite choice, so I don't know what to do. My husband calls it the Ross Perot effect, lol. Anyone voting for McCain even though they would rather have a third party candidate (but know that person can't win and are trying to prevent Obama from getting elected)??? UGH this is so confusing and my husband is trying to help me figure it all out. He sucks at it, though.:rotfl:

No problem, Aprille...I'm just pretty shocked at how ugly it's getting on a DISNEY message board, LMAO!!! I would expect it on a political board, but...I guess there are a lot of smart people here with strong opinions so that's why it happens. Mind telling me what you don't like about Ron Paul? And no, he probably didn't have anything to do with Ike, hee hee! Stay safe!!!!

My 22 year old son will be voting for Ron Paul, as will a friend of his. They really believe in the integrity and the back-to-basics Constitutional America that is seemingly slipping away. I won't be voting for him, as I see it as a wasted vote since he has no chance, but I still have to say GO RON PAUL.
