It's almost here the training should be winding down and this week should be the last of the long training runs/walks depending on your particular plan. Time now to get the race outfit ready and a good handle on what to take.

Ummmmm....anyone else getting excited or is it just me?

Racing Panda:hippie:

I am right there with ya!!

I have my packing list prepared, ressies made, and my tapering has begun. I wish I could fast forward to January! :lmao:

I am actually going through the "what was I thinking" mode. I know I can do this, it's just that I'm a goal setter and fear falling short.

I am really excited for Christmas..I will have all my "kids" under one roof.

I'm looking forward to January too! But I have a little bit of the "what were you thinking" thought floating around too

We are getting excited in the Trike house. DW is running the half and I'm running goofy. We are running with some friends for church and for every person running it will be a "first" something.

DW has been looking at John Bingham quotes for a t-shirt.

"The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."

"It was being a runner that mattered, not how fast or how far I could run. The joy was in the act of running and in the journey, not in the destination."

"Believe that you can run farther or faster. Believe that you're young enough, old enough, strong enough, and so on to accomplish everything you want to do. Don't let worn-out beliefs stop you from moving beyond yourself."

Actually, one of the better sayings is from the WISH team itself.

DLF>DNF>>DNS
(Dead Last Finish is better than Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start)

Others include
"In the relentless pursuit of forward momentum"
"I paid money for this?"

I'm getting super excited! I'm on winter break, so I literally have nothing to do all day but read past marathon trip reports, and watch videos from past marathon weekends on youtube. It's going to be a long 2 weeks until we leave. I can't believe the weekend is finally getting closer. This trip has been 2 years in the making now!

I really like the wish moto.

Some of the sayings I've liked best from races are:

I'm just doing this to put pictures on facebook.

If found on ground please pause my garmin.

I thought you said "RUM"

Start out slow... then taper off.

I'm excited, I have some issue with my Psoas/Hip Flexers that has been bothering me recently. Went to PT for it yesterday, they're optimistic that I should be at 100% for the race. My run this morning was a bit rough.

One quote I wear is "If found on ground, please drag across finish line." :rotfl:

My quote would be "My family can check this off their bucket list of things I want my mom to do" Really, they kept asking when would I do a marathon. I started running 4 years ago when my oldest asked why I always walked for hours and never ran.

I saw a runner at a race last year who had "Three months ago, this seemed like a good idea" on the back of his shirt. I thought isn't that that truth!

Another one had a picture of a tortoise and said "Slow and steady wins the race"

I'm so ready! Is it wrong that part of the reason I'm so excited is that I'll be leaving the kids and DH at home and just traveling with my (totally cool, like a best girlfriend) SIL?

Is it a bad thing that I can't wait for Christmas to be over so I can focus on January?

We leave in 6 days.

Driving down from WI and spending 4 nights in Key Largo over New Year's. Just registered for the New Year's Day 5k with DS11. First 5k for both of us (kinda backwards since I've done 4 half marathons)

I'm going into the Goofy undertrained, but hopefully healthy.

Can't WAIT!!!!

Pretty excited over here... First Goofy, after running the last 2 fulls. Can't wait to get down there. :thumbsup2

Soo excited and soo nervous! I'm not sure which is stronger!
My first half marathon..and I wouldnt have done it anywhere but Disney!!

Man I can't wait. My first marathon. Something I said I would NEVER do or have the desire to do. I actually feel like completing my training is as big of an accomplishment as finishing the race. I keep thinking about all the miles I've logged and all of those hours out there on the trail. I'm actually really proud of myself. Now I hope I don't get mad at myself if I don't finish in my goal time.

Anyone else paranoid about getting sick. People at work are all sick with sinus infections, the flu and colds. I'm drinking Airborne and green tea like crazy. Last thing I want is a cold or the flu just before the race.

This sounds so familiar! WHen I did the full in 2010, it was mind boggling to me that I could train and race this. So definitely be proud of what you've accomplished. It's a big deal! And try not to worry too much (easier said than done, for sure)

paxsarah No it's not wrong to want to go and do this without your family. It is a personal challenge--and a chance for some "me" time. There will be other trips/races that they can share in.

Now that Christmas is behind us, I am focused on my trip to WDW and the marathon relay. So excited now! :goodvibes. Today I found. Few throwaway items in my husbands closet Nd now I need to figure out my race day attire. I do hope the weather is cool sowe can all be speedy!

Happy Running!
Pam

I don't know if this is excitement or nerves... :earseek:

I've dug the suitcase and carry-on out of the closet. I've started to lay stuff out on the dresser on what will need to go where (waiver, running outfit, shoes, medicine, ect in carry-on).

I've checked and rechecked my flight itinerary, room reservation, ADR... WHEW! My only ADR is the night of the Half, hopefully to be my celebratory dinner for finishing! Going to Garden Grill at The Land, it's one place I've never eaten and the family style dining may be a bonus depending on how hungry I am that night!

My Dad and Stepmom will be in Orlando the day before I arrive on the 4th. I'm trying to remember to keep it low key those days before the Half!! It's going to be sooooo hard!

This is my first go around with anything like this, so it's an entirely new Disney experience for me!
