Anyone else see this?

One of their points in the application is that people don't want to carry around the mug (for convenience and sanitation or because it's lost)
That could be nice to not need the actual mug. I could let my daughter get her refills in her own cup that hangs around her neck. That sounds good to me!

I saw that post yesterday and think it could be an excellent idea. There are too many unanswered questions to form a solid opinion, but I never understood the refillable mug concept. Do people put all different kinds of soda and coffee in it during the same trip? Where do you all wash them? It always seemed unsanitary and unnecessarily complicated.

But if we can start using disposable cups instead, suddenly the program becomes more practical. I recognize people keep the mugs as souvenirs, and this would end that practice, but that doesn't bother me.

If they use identity based technology...can you send someone else to the food court to bring you a Coke?

So many people over the years have reused mugs from trip to trip WDW has come up with a way to stop those who cheat the system.......Good for WDW!!! Many do not see the problem with binging back mugs from year to year, but to me it is thievery!!!!

Blizzard Beach has these refillable mugs for a few years. They use bar codes that the machine reads to dispense the soda. Good only that day.

That's a good question! That would totally be annoying if everyone in my party had to all go down to get a refill when we could just send 1 person.

I thought it was interesting and thought it sounded like a good idea. When I read this I wondered if it would be like the water parks. Which would be interesting. I guess we will see. From another thread I read sounds like they might be changing the dining plans too so 2011 could be a big year of change.

For our mugs we bring dish soap and clean them.

Great idea! No more washing mugs out in the bathroom sink! My only issue would be if I could not get my husband coffee on my way back from the gym in the morning - I usually bring both our mugs with me and bring back breakfast and coffee for us to enjoy on our balcony in the morning. It is such a nice way to start the day. I am sure Disney will find a way to do this right!

I have more Disney Mugs at home then I know what to do with - enough for coffee in the car each day of the week without having to run the dishwasher :)

There's another thread about this on the resorts board. And as pointed out on there, Disney has lots and lots of patents they aren't currently using. I wouldn't get my hopes up that a change is coming along real soon. This is just a patent application, nothing more.

Good for Disney, I hate it when people try to cheat. For those of us who don't if ends up costing us more.

1) I wonder how they handle the "forever" mugs.
2) We have four mugs and use the same ones over again every year.
3) Gonna be a major issue if they stop our use of them !!!!!!!!!!

I have never heard of a "forever" mug. How long ago did you buy them?? I would hope some concessions would be made for holders of these, but you never know, Disney may have some fine print associated with those mugs which allows them to "change terms" of the service. I hope for your sake accommodations can be made if this switch happens.
