Anyone else playing with GoPro's yet?

Just got mine last week and have been playing around with it the last few days, but haven't been able to spend as much time with it as I would like yet. Happy with it so far but I still am not as comfortable as I would like to be. The surprise factor of not knowing what you have shot until you have copy the video off the camera is kinda fun, but at the same time, I wish it had a screen just to help frame my initial shot for video. If I could do that I would feel better about it.

Plan on using it a lot at WDW in two weeks. I have the handle bar attachment and plan on attaching it to my nieces double stroller to shoot around the park. Also want to take it on a number of rides and hope to get some interesting shots and play around with some time lapse if our room has a good view and shot some in the pool. Basically I want to hit record and not have to worry, to much, about what I'm shooting that much. If I get video that I can't get with a p&s and end up with a lot of nice secondary footage I will be very happy with the purchase.

Still plan on using my p&s camera to shoot most of the family videos. Get better quality out of it and the ability to view what you shoot is a necessity for that.

My kids each got one for Christmas. They've had fun with them. They've used them primarily for video rather than stills.

I wish it had a screen just to help frame my initial shot for video. If I could do that I would feel better about it.

We got the LCD BacPacs for ours so that they can see what they are shooting.

One fun thing we've done with the pair is 3D video. I haven't ordered their 3D kit yet, but just using the pair mounted together on a rail and using some video editing software was enough to make it work. I'll probably order the kit to make it easier.

I got the GoPro Hero 960, which is the lower end model, because I figured I would be shooting everything in 720p at WDW, for the smaller file size. The difference is that it does not shoot 1080p, have 60fps (in HD), or the plug in area that allows for the BacPacs. While I liked those features, I like the price I got mine at $140.

I have had mine for about 7 months.

Just got back from a pool party and used it for the first time in water and am very happy with the results. The best video results I have had yet and even the audio quality wasn't bad. They had a band playing and they sound decent even under water.

Can't wait to shoot some video in our resort pool in less than a week.

BTW k5jmh, the photos you posted look great. Are you actually using the GoPro to take individual photos, or are those shots taken from time-lapse? I know they have a picture only mode but I have not taken one that way, that's what my dslr or p& shoot are for. Although my image count is just under 6,000 photos in a week, so I have taken a fair amount of time-lapse.

Those snaps were taken as pictues from the GoPro HD Hero 960.

I normally use my Canon 7D and my Sigma 10-20mm for Ultra-Wide shots.

I got my GoPro back in February when Best Buy had them deeply discounted.
I finally got to use it for the main use I got, video my autocross runs.
Though seeing your photos I might try using it as such.
