Anyone else planning for September 2013?

After taking our first trip to WDW last Summer, my husband and I immediately (on the plane ride home) decided to start planning for a Disneyland vacation. We were originally going to wait until 2014, but we just.can't. wait that long!!!

So, we decided last night that we're going to go ahead and bump it up a year and plan for September 6th - 15th

I can't waaaaaait!! But now I'm having to throw out all of that WDW knowledge that I spent a year digesting and start all over again. I've been to Disnelyland twice - once when I was 4 (I only remember bits and pieces) and once when I was 15 (I went for 1 day with my youth group). Obviously I didn't have to do any sort of planning for those trips, so I don't really count them.

I'm a planner to the core, so I'll be buying The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2013 as soon as it hits the shelves, but until then, I'm reading TR and daydreaming!

Perhaps I should've just made this a pre-trip report...

Be prepared for lots of refurbs during that time. Haunted Mansion will for sure be closed to add the Halloween overlay and Space Mt will be closed for a few days to add its overlay too. Halloween season will start right after your dates.

Yeah, I was prepared for HM being down to put on the overlay - which is fine because we don't care about HM. However, we care a lot about Space Mt and I've been doing a little bit of research to figure out when they put the halloween overlay on it. If we need to move the trip to the last week of August to avoid all that, we definitely will!

I havent started planning yet, but my oldest DDs birthday is Sept 7th. So as long as we renew our passes, we will go to DL for her 5th birthday

I'm going to be watching this year's schedule like a hawk to try and predict what next year will look like. I wish they just had a set standard date(s) for the overlay stuff. I feel like its nearly impossible to strike a balance between crowds and closures at Disneyland. Le sigh
