we leave in 2 wks and 2 days to head back to the world. :cool1: BUT now my thoughts race again, this happens every time we go. My fears, and irrational thoughts rear their ugly head. I am so nervous because my DH and I are outnumbered. There are 3 kids and only 2 of us, what if we lose one of them?? Oh my gosh, I would drop dead straight away. I always get theese flashes around this time when we go back to WDW. Why :confused3. Am I the only one? When will I relax enough? I mean geez my oldest is 1 month away from being 14, then the next will be 9 (when I went to the world and I was 10 yrs old my parents sent me off with my sisters 16 &14 at the time to explore on our own) then the baby she is 4.

Not panic but not really wanting to go and have zero excitement. I cant put my finger on it at all but I am hoping it goes away soon as we leave Friday!

No more diapers. Focus on the positives. This Christmas will be our first time with kids when no one needs diapers. I am so stoked.

Just keep one hand on the 4yr old and the other on the 10yr old, and give the 14yr old so much luggage and so many carryons that oldest can't get away very easily. And have the DH take up the rear so that he can pick up dropped micky dolls, favorite things, etc... and generally play border collie. You'll be fine, you've done this before.

That being said, it's good not to become complacent... you never know. My father used to say "just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you"

Have a magical vacation!

I like the idea of that. When I first read your post, I said "Man, what's there to worry about, they are BIG" ... but it's true. Even though they are big, they are kids. They make mistakes, they see something shiny & wander away, thinking "I'm big!" So, don't PANIC, but yeah, it's still probably good to think about.

Somehow, last year I don't remember the worry so much -- and there were 2 adults & 3 kids. But one kid would be strapped to my chest for the week, so I figured we could handle the other 2. This year, that baby is 18 months old & full of spunk and independence. We managed to lose track of her at a museum a few weeks ago for 30 seconds. She was quickly found but it was a moment of "well I thought YOU had her" ... so a good reminder that even though there will be 3 adults this time (MIL is coming with us) we need to be a little organized in our caregiving/child watching. I am going to assign us each a kid ... because Disney is not a "well, I thought YOU had her" kind of place.

I'm definitely the one who REALLY pushed to go this year, and now my DH is WAY more excited than I am. I think because I'm the worrier. What if she jumps out of Dumbo? What if she takes off running and we don't know where she went? I've actually considered a 'leash' for her ... something I've always said I'd NEVER do. :rolleyes1 So yeah, for me, I guess I am kind of panicked. I get it.

But I'm going to try to take a deep breath & just have FUN. We've managed to keep the other 2 safe for this long, I can do it with the baby as well ;)

The closer we get to our vacation the more I worry. I keep thinking one of us will get sick, and it will ruin our vacation. My kids probably think I'm nuts because every day before school I remind them to wash their hands often and use hand sanitizer. If we don't get sick before we leave then there is the plane ride. I have never felt this way before, but my DS has got sick 2 times while at disney. Thankfully each time was on the day we left to go home.

I can relate. I start stressing out about a month away and I am really bad a week or so out. I worry about everything and all of the "what if's", but so far every trip has been wonderful. There really is no need to stress, because we have no control over what is going to happen anyway. All we can do is try to make the best of what we are given. Sometimes it's easier said than done. :upsidedow

This is my first solo trip without the kids. It will be just my mom & I. I have been having nightmares that I am there and I have forgotten everything at home. No camera, No clothes, no money, NOTHING. I have the same dream over and over. I am always so use to packing everything but the kitchen sink and we always drive so we can bring anythign we want. This time I am flying, I haven't flown in years. I don't know what to bring, what bags to bring, do I want to check my luggage or pack light and carry everythign on board with me, what can I bring on board with me, what needs to stay home, will I have what I need when I get there, don't forget the tickets Debbie, don't forget to pack the chargers, you need the chargers......UGH!!!!!! :headache::laughing:

I'm driving myself crazy.

Good idea about making sure kids are assigned to adults. We have always done that. We call it a 'travel buddy'. As mom and the organizer and controller of all things, I used to have trouble with the mom, mom, mom, mom, mom... etc. while I was trying to get stuff organized, or check our bags, or whatever. So, we implemented our travel buddy system. This means that if you have a question, or see something neat, or have to go to the bathroom, you check with your travel buddy. My kids are 8 and 12 now, and I have always had the youngest as my travel buddy. I asked if I could change on our last trip, but was met with a resounding NO from all parties. It is the way my boys are used to travelling and they like it that way.

If I were the OP I would let dad have the older 2 as travel buddies, and I would take the youngest.

Also, I don't tend to panic about most things before we leave. Just the passports. I check on the passports about 1x per day for the last 2 weeks. Then, when we are on our way I have to see them about every 15 minutes. Little OCD, but without them we would not be allowed to cross the border.

We lave Thursday. I'm in a total panic. It's just DD and I. What happens if I get sick or hurt and she's alone? I hate to fly, so what happens if something goes wrong on the plane? I haven't flown forever, so I'm freaking out about what to pack in what suitcase? Check or carry on? What if she gets sick? What if I forget something important like my glasses or my meds?

Arrgh.

Too funny!! Just made me think of my childhood...went to Washington DC with my mother and 2 year old sister (I was 11). My mother put her on a leash, it was pink! The Boy Scouts at the NASA Smithsonian thought the sight was so funny they took pictures! Needless to say, I have never leashed my children, but I have lost them! :scared1: for short periods of time.
Good Luck!
Any yes, I am panicking too. I am afraid I am going to miss planning something very important!:hippie:

I've been talking to my kids, dd8 and dd5, about what to do if you get lost, who your parent "buddie" is that you are always with, not to run after/towards something you see, etc. Quizzing them on our cell phone numbers!

But I'm still going to worry... 15 days to go... thinking about packing the leash for the 5 year old just in case she doesn't listen the first day or two, she hates being leashed so I would use it as a scare tactic....

We're going in May and our girls will be 6, 4 and 2 at the time. I'm already ccthinking about how we're going to handle flying with just hubby and I with all the kids. My ILs will be meeting us in WDW the following day. We're flying on Air Tran out of Philly and I'm going to pay the extra amount to have our seat next to each other. I'm bringing the double stoller for the younger two in the airport. When we get to MCO I just hope they can hold down the excitment and listen to us. I so understand how you feel. I only think of it as being a mom!!!! You worry about your kids no matter how old they are.

Off topic, but if you book your flight through Kayak.com, you don't have to pay to choose your seat!

what we do at MCO is stop & pick up lunch on the way over to the DME line. Then I sit with the kids & we eat so they are contained and occupied while I'm on my own, and DH goes to get checked in. We then go to the bathroom and head over to the bus lines.
