Anyone else only go deluxe at Universal?

Just to let you all know, we stayed at HRH last month, and when we found the loaded fridge in the room, we called the concierge and someone came and locked it up. We did not want to be tempted by the high priced snacks and bevereges (7$ water!):scared1:. We did ask for and we did recieve another fridge (empty this time) for free, that we plugged in under the sink outside of the bathroom. HRH was very accomadating and eager to please. VERY cool atmosphere! We stayed at AKL at WDW the same trip, and loved that too (thanks to disney visa points accrued over 4 years). Different atmospheres, both good service, although mousekeeping at disney was better than at HRH, would stay at either again in a heartbeat!

We go to WDW every year. We have stayed at value, moderate, & deluxe resorts. With the exception of the monorail resorts, I'm not sure that deluxe is worth it. We really love GF. Although I thought AKL & SSR were beautiful, I didn't see that much of an advantage over POR or POFQ. We include a few days at Universal on each trip. We always stay on-site. We usually do HRH although we have done RPR twice. We love both of them. The FOTL option is worth the price. I also love being so close to the parks that we could walk.

So do any of you stay in Universal and commute over to Disney? Seems far but I've never done it.

I always split my stay. I usually stay 4 days at Universal (after staying at the 3 hotels, PBH is my #1 favorite) and at least 7 days at Disney. I only stay at Mod. resorts as I just can't seem to justify the cost of a deluxe. Moderate resorts offer exactly what I am looking for.
