Just wondering if I was alone in not reaching my Labor Day goal? At the time I commited to the goal it seemed so doable and then life got in the way. All I had to do was to lose 5# in like 6 weeks, which I thought I could do no problem, but I guess I was wrong. Labor Day is a week and a half away and I still have 5# to go and I know in my current state that I won't reach it. Anyone else?

I also set a goal of 5lbs. I wanted to get my 40lb clippie. Last week I stayed the same so I now still have the 5lbs to lose. I think it is possible for me in 1 1/2wks but if I don't make it, at least I am still on program. I know I will get there eventually! Don't get discouraged! If you know things are tough for you right now, you might want to use that extra energy to focus more on following the program. I find that even just adding lots more water can help the weight loss effort along! Stick to it! Look at how much you have already lost!! You are doing a great job. Just think about how much healthier you are than last year at this time!

I think I will be cutting mine very close! My actual goal is for the 3rd (my birthday) when I wanted to have that 40 lb. clippie. I am still 4.5 pounds away and I am just now at the under 2 week mark. Plus my parents are visiting over Labor Day weekend and I was planning on "cheating" just a little so that will not help.

I was really hoping for a bigger loss last week to take some of the pressure off but it just didn't happen. I have started exercising again and I have been staying OP so hopefully I will show a really good loss this week (2.5 would be great) and then I might be able to do it.

Oh well if I don't get my 40 lb. clippie that week hopefully it will only be an extra week. Then I will need to start on my Halloween goal! :)

Just want to say that YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!! Goals are great to have, but we can't control what life will throw at us sometimes! So if you set a goal and something happens (anything from unexpected company to REALLY sweltering heat to feeling kind of blue and not much into journaling, getting sick, etc.) and you don't quite make your goal, that's ok too! :)

Because every day is a new day and every day we all have the chance to start over! Jump that hurdle, reset your goal date and make peace with yourself. That's what I say... nothing is set in stone. I don't think anyone here is going to judge another person if they set a goal and then don't quite make it, that's ok!

Alright, I'll step off my soapbox now! ;) Hang in there, gang! If you set a goal and don't quite meet it, that's ok! It's STILL all Onward and Downward from here! Just like you give everyone else that encouraging pep talk, you've got to give yourself the same talk!

(((((((((((group hug))))))))))) We're all great, we're all doing a fantastic job, and we're all chugging right along at the perfect pace!!!! Hang in there!!!!!:smooth:

I hear ya!

With a one-pound gain for me last week, that makes a 5-pound loss by Labor Day pretty tough.

Here's the good news: Even if we don't make it, we're still making better choices for a healthier life! Sometimes you just have to tell yourself the scale doesn't matter. What matters is that we're taking good care of our bodies!

Hang in there - if not Labor Day, then maybe Columbus Day!

I think I can, I think I can...:)

I decided on my mini-goal for Labor day on July 4 - it was to lose 8.5 and get my 25# clippie. I still have 3.5 to go. Last week it looked like I might make it - doubtful tho! I'll be close!

I'm not at all unhappy that I probably won't make it! I make goals as a target, if I get there, great if I don't, hey, I'm closer than I would have been if I hadn't set a goal.

Thinking about the next goal . . . . My ultimate goal is 125 (or thereabouts) by 12/31 my BIG 50 birthday. I want my weight to match my DL which it did 10 years ago!

No matter WHAT, don't give up a healthy lifestyle, no matter what weight loss plan you're following.

The great thing about weight loss plans is that even if you fall off, the plan will STILL welcome you back with open, loving arms, and will help take the weight off.

If you haven't been following your plan, just get back into the swing of things. I know it's hard. I've had to do it quite a few times, but it can be done with enough determination.

So you didn't make your current goal. As a friend of mine says: "AFW?" Which means "And freekin' what?" Set a new goal, and when you set it, DON'T put a time frame on it. Time frames are SUCH bad ideas. Not only because if you don't hit the goal within the time frame you get discouraged and/or punish yourself, but because at the beginning, you think "I've got TONS of time!!!" or "I'll never do this! There's not enough time!"

It doesn't matter how long it takes to come off. You're doing this to be healthy. Not just to lose weight.

You CAN do it. You really can. I ain't Superman, so if I can, believe me, ANYBODY can!

I agree with Karen, just move your date out. Don't look at it like you can't do it! You are all doing so great on keeping your new healthy lifestyle going. That is what matters. Not how long it takes us to loose all the weight. Set another goal, and smile! You can do it!

Keep up the great work,
Melanie
