Anyone else not love Fantasmic?

After hearing rave reviews of Fantasmic, we did the Brown Derby/Fantasmic package last summer. We loved Brown Derby but why was I not blown away by Fantasmic? I did not understand the fuss about scenes reflected on water spray. I thought there would be more of a story line.

Maybe it was because it was still 95 degrees with no breeze when the show started after having waited for about an hour. :earseek:

Anyone else feel this way? Trying to decide if we will try it again. I thought hoop de doo revue was much more fun. For those who love it, please explain the allure. Thanks!

We did it once and that was enough. Wishes and Illuminations are far better in my opinion.

I've seen Fantasmic several times, and while I do enjoy it, I much prefer Illuminations.

I'm not a huge fan of Fantasmic, but I prefer it over Illuminations. I think Illuminations is just way too cheesy. I'd go see it again for the experience but its not like Wishes or Spectro that I could watch over and over and over and over...

We did the dining package with Fantasmic on our 2002 trip and I really looked forward to it. I was very disappointed in it and would not rush back to see it again.

We have only seen it at DL in CA. Not sure what is different about the WDw show because we have never bothered in 6 visits since 99 to try to go and see it. I guess we were not that impressed with the DL show!

I absolutely love the lights, action, music of Fantasmic! I love that you get to see some characters that are hard to see elsewhere. (the evil queen for one) I love that Mickey is once again the hero! Love the romantic boatride at the end. Love the scenes in the water. Love Pocahontas. Love...well, I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. LOL :)

We waited a long time in 2003 and were very disappointed that we waited so long. A nice show but in no way worth the wait without a dining package and not worth a dining package price. So...while we are glad we saw it once it is not even in the plans for our trip in 15 days. Wow!!15 days!!! WOOHOO! :cool1:

We saw it once, also with the BD Dining Package. We had to wait SOOOOOO long for it to start. Then when it did, well, it seemed to me like mostly Disney movie clips on water spray. Yes, the boat part is great, but then it took SOOOO long to get out of there.

I'm glad we did it once, but that was enough.

Well I think one thing many people love is fireworks. However many think fireworks are boring. Those that love fireworks, such as myself, think Fantasmic! is a little too boring, while people like my wife who think I am a little overboard in loving fireworks, love Fantasmic!

Personally I think that if they added more fireworks to the end of the show it would be great! However the show itself just gets a little slow at times. It's my wife's favorite behind wishes.

I love Illuminations, but it's just too short. I never realized how short it was until Wishes came around. I wish they'd extend Illuminations somehow. I LOVE THE MUSIC and the pyrotechics are great, but it is very short. When you really pay attention to how many fireworks are in Illuminations, it's not much.

I love it, seen it several times and will see it again. I think its all the work they put into it, these guys work hard on the set and I really appreciate it. We sometimes forget just what Disney does, I mean the color the set , how everything looks so real, I just think its great. :cool1:

I am suprised that there are so many Fantasmic "haters" :teeth: out there. I love fireworks and the Hallowishes firework show was the coolest fireworks show I had ever seen and I will admit I would watch that over Fantasmic. However I think Fantasmic is a great show. Espically for people as myself that don't love parades, (and don't have kids) I really don't see that many characters at the park. I think Fantasmic does a great job of showcasing Disney Characters along with a great show and good music. I guess we have never purposely gotten there "early" and had to wait for the show, nor would I have a Fantasmic Dinner with the intent that I am paying for the Fantasmic Shoe. My DW and I just get there when the show is about to start and enjoy the show.

Well Im definately not a Fantasmic Hater. I like it, I simply don't love it. I get bored at points. Actually I would say that the show is really "great" in terms of quality. I just personally say it's not my favorite.

We have done the Fastasmic package 4 times in 3 visits, twice in one visit. We loved it. Our kids love it. It is really a pleasure to see. I enjoy seeing all the different characters and their storylines... Love how Mickey wins at the end. That is what I will remember the most. My son and daughter's memories of how Mickey beat the dragon and the snake.

Quite honestly, I think if it were more like the one at DL I would like it more. There's NOTHING like that Peter Pan/Captain Hook (and the other characters) battle on the big pirate ship/

I happen to love Fantasmic, but I am a big fan of Sorcerer Mickey. I love the whole premise of Mickey defeating the evil in the end.

That said, I also love each of the other shows also, Illuminations, Wishes, etc.

I and twin DDs liked it, but my DW did not like it. She didn't think the way the show flowed was very smooth and she had other comments. I said what can you expect for something in real life that isn't a movie using a blue screen for special effects.

I was interested to see this post as I am presently trying to decide if it is worth planning to see the show. I last went over 7 years ago and can only really remember the long wait and problems getting in and out to see the show. Was considering booking dinner package but DS 10 and 2 but don't know if the toddler will be too tired and bored as I understand still have to be there at least an hour before the show.
We are staying at POP 12/8 - 12/22 so have the option of splitting up and DH taking DYS back to the hotel.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

Now wait a minute. I am not a HUGE fan of the show. HOWEVER, if you do not see this show for a first time, you'll be making A HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake!

You may fall in love with this show. My wife obsesses over it. Big mistake if you dont at least do it once.

I also love Fantasmic! I love how it includes things to appeal to both boys and girls, shows almost everyone's favorite character, utilizes tons of technology that haven't been used together before, and best of all features Mickey as the hero throughout. ::MickeyMo Since I am a strong proponent of including Mickey cartoons, etc. more often since he's the one that started all of this, I love it.
I personally love the storyline and I think it's a pretty strong one- We're introduced to Mickey's backstory and all his friends in his dream (the *good* characters, princesses, princess: etc., then we see the villains in action, all of the bad things that they do, then we see them trying to turn Mickey's dream into a nightmare (the witch does this) then Mickey has to fight them- the snake, the Maleficent/dragon (p.s. I love how they transform her into a dragon, too!) and Mickey has to use all the powers of his Imagination to conquer them. Of course he does! :goodvibes
I love seeing all of the characters together at the end- when the huge Steamboat comes out at the end, and it transforms from a black and white Mickey to a party boat of so many different characters, I can't help but get teary eyed, thinking of it as an allegory for Walt's dream come true- a black and white Mickey transforming into a world of characters that appeal to millions of men, women and children. :earsgirl: :earsboy:
I love the way that it fuses the playful and the serious- Mickey fighting forces of evil! I love the ending where Mickey magically appears at the top when he was just on the bottom- it's like a little wink telling you to expect the unexpected and still believe in magic :wizard: and that good will always triumph.
Anyway, if you don't love it, it's okay- maybe I'll get a seat without such a wait next time! :flower:
